Well we all here on this board are not the only ones calling out Franklin. He is getting torched everywhere right now and rightly so....

Shhhhh!!! You’re tempting them!

I think it’s even more insulting for a kid to opt out and attend the bowl game with the team. They want to be there for their teammates, just not on the field where it matters. For f*ck’s sake, Olu dressed today and even warmed up. Get your f*cking a$$ out there and play.

I’ll be heading out to Starbucks soon to drown my sorrows in vanilla lattes. Kids better stay out of my way.
Hold on tight to the scones and biscotti . I can see you getting lippy tonight . The barista better not under pour .

Let’s see…we never had a chance it seems.

You fired the OC. That specific moving part was your doing. We were all told that was addition by subtraction. The 5 star QB got worse, the WRs hit bottom and kept going, and besides Olu everyone who mattered on that offense played in this game. And they were awful. That’s on you dude.

Well, I'm disappointed, but my disappointment does not focus so much on the Lions' performance today as it does on what the CFB postseason has become.

The current CFB system, with most of the elite players opting out in order to protect their draft status, has turned things upside down. The postseason games used to be the biggest games, and the ones players were least likely to miss. Now, the best players opt out (which is perhaps understandable, given what happened a few years ago to that elite player from Notre Dame), and the team playing in a bowl game may be FAR less competitive than it was during the regular season. I seem to recall the announcers for today's game saying that the Lions had five (5) opt outs, while Ole Miss had one (1), and that it included Fashanu and both starting CB's. I'm not into offering excuses, but that clearly had an effect on the quality of the Lions' pass blocking and pass coverage.

I'm not sure what, if anything, can be done to fix this mess, but if I was a college and I was paying big NIL money to a star player, I might ask for a contractual commitment to play in the team's postseason game(s).
Too late my friend. Once the toothpaste is squeezed out the tube, you can't put it back in.

With 6 weeks of prep time too. The guy is a charlatan. It will be this way until PSU can afford to buy him out. 🤷‍♂️

Allar could the worst QB I can remember at Penn State. Sure there may be worse, but none come to mind at present.

You were dipping your toes into the pool of Franklin acceptance . I was surprised .

More like resignation. I think he did well with the new coordinator hires and hoping they can lift the program. I also think there are personnel/talent issues on offense but Franklin will have to fix that. This game was always gonna be dicey because of opt outs and coaching turnover so I don’t care much about the result (though it was unfortunately laughably predictable). Next year is a clean slate with the new playoff format. We’ll see how it goes. Watching the coaching carousel this year and seeing the richest program in the sport settle for Mike Elko was depressing. I wouldn’t fire Franklin for him.

It is what it is. Franklin's an outstanding CEO, culture builder, recruiter and role model.
I have a hard time accepting that he's a good game day coach.
I'd have an easier time accepting a loss in a competitive game. But what I witnessed were the same issues that plagued the team all season, disjointed and bizarre playcalling lacking rhythm or reason, a struggling QB, receivers who were AWOL, etc.
It should get better with the new coordinators, hard for it to get worse.

These same issues have plagued PSU for the past ten years

5 star QB got worse? Not sure I agree with that. He certainly didn’t get better, but he didn’t get worse.

Yep. He’s proven over n over that he’s not a game day coach e.g. things don’t go to plan, need a new plan. So fire your competent OC, lose your highly competent DC and you expose yourself.
I’ve no coaching to draw on but it looked the entire game that the D played a soft zone. A DB was always 17-18 yds deep at snap, no matter the down or yardage and receivers moved into open zones all game with no coverage following them. Give ole Miss coaches credit for lapping up the lack of adjustments.
