The original article stated that the Borough doesn’t want to take 500 parking spaces offline while tear down and construction took place.Stupid questions:
Why can’t they build the new parking garage on the site of the one being torn down? Is it because the town would lose needed parking spaces during teardown and construction (i.e., if building in a different location, alternatively, they could tear down the old one only when the new one is open)? Is it because they want to build a larger parking garage than the old site can accommodate?

Personally, I would have liked to see negotiations before using eminent domain. Even then sellers should get three times market value. That way they might think twice before the use of government takeover.Let me be clear: I’m not anti-change, so much as I am for thoughtful growth. It’s not unique to SC. It’s not as profitable to build aesthetically pleasing structures, so the result is a mess of eyesores, often with a planned life of like 20-30 years. York was never a beautiful city, but every significant structure built in last 25 years in downtown is one flavor or another of ugly. I can’t believe they invested in rehabbing the Yorktowne Hotel - seems against everything else that’s been done.
Going back even further was Frugal Mc Dougles on college near State Theater 15 cent cheese burgers and 29 cent milkshakesWhatever that is it sounds good.
