Mrs. and I leave for Isle de Mujers (Hyatt Resort) for my 50th birthday. All is perfect from the airport to Cancun and the 40-minute boat ride to the resort. We get up to our room, change into bathing gear lather up with suntan lotion and off to the pool bar approximately 2pm.

As we go in the pool make our way up to the bar and order drinks, I tell my wife that I'm going to swim under to get my hair wet since it was so hot out. She won't join because she just had her hair colored and apparently that could ruin it.

I completely forgot about the step under the water to step up to the pool bar. As I thrust myself under water with a full breaststroke I slammed my nose right into the step, broke it, heard it and could see the blood pollute the water.

Forget the hysterics that ensued. The EMT liquid stitched my nose and packed it. The following two days almost every minute I had the Hiccups. By day two I was contemplating how to kill myself. Top that with the runs for two straight days, it was the worst getaway present ever.

I left Phila weighing around 158 pounds came home weighing145.

Hot isn’t the word for Isle de Mujers! We went there on boat from Cancun and I swear I over paid for a bottle of water!

Sorry to hear that. Isla Mujeres is a fond memory for my wife and I. Back in 2003 we honeymooned there at what was the only resort on the island at the time. It's now called The Mia Reef I see. Your post brought back some good memories for me even though the same can't be said for you.

I went to Cancun in December as I had a ton of miles that were expiring. Nice all inclusive resort. On the last night, I got food poisoning.

We went to the airport 2.5 hours early and the damn place must have been 40 degrees. Everyone was freezing and I was feeling miserable and freezing. The body searched my daughter because her passport shows she was born in Russia. I got upgraded to first class and kept track of when the bathroom was open because, well, you never know. Back home, two hours in immigration and passport control. Then an Uber home. I left the hotel at 9am and walked into my home at 5pm. I take a quick shower and tell my wife I am going to bed. I walked into the bathroom and blew cookies that made me look like a grotesque Bellagio Fountain. But, damn, I felt better when done.

I slept 12 hours and felt much better.

I'd still take my vacation over yours. Sorry to hear.

Bummer man. Vacation accidents are the worst.

Down Here at the new Margaritaville adults only in Cancun and having fun watching the rednecks get asked to the leave the restaurants when they arrive due to their poor attire. One guy showed up wearing a button down flannel with the sleeves cut off. Yes, he threw a fit when he was asked to leave. Probably doesn’t tip either.

We sailed out to Isla Mujeres last summer for a day trip. Beautiful. How was the hotel?

Hotel was absolutely amazing. The separate toilets in our room helped as well.
