Great pictures, they can be dangerous though. A woman musher in the middle of the Iditarod race had 4 of her dogs stomped to death by one the other day.

Hope to see them when we visit Jackson Hole this summer.
Just travel the Wilson/Teton road...you will! If you are there in June and going on this road into Grand Teton NP....look out the passenger window to the swampy/pond areas and you will see them in the ponds feeding. Just look for cars stopped.....

I saw several in Anchorage (right along Tony Knowles coastal walking trail) back in August. HUGE! The locals warned us more people are killed by moose than by bear every year in Alaska.

You’ll also find them regularly near the intersection of route 22 and the road leading to JHMR. That’s the same road that becomes Moose-Wilson road.

Moose are my spirit animals…I’m simply in awe of them. That said I’ve hiked/driven all over this continent (east, west, north) over the past 3 decades, including many of the places you mentioned, and never saw one in the wild (saw 2 in a mom & pop zoo right outside of Acadia NP, but that doesn’t count). Not giving up my search, but starting to think I hav a better chance finding Bigfoot riding on a unicorn.

Great pics, Bones.
Those four legged girls certainly beat out the squirrels, chips and occasional bear on my back deck.

Is your location ever visited by grizzly or brown bear?
The neighbor said he ran into a grizzly when hunting out back at the base of the mountains several years back. Grizzlies are rare right here but we get black bears and mountain lions visiting the community on a yearly basis. They are mainly spotted close to the trailheads or on the golf courses. We have not had any near our house. I did see a lone wolf cut across the field out back one winter. Looked like he was headed across the valley over toward Idaho.

We see multiple moose on a regular basis in Wyoming. Have seen them when hiking and when we are out driving in the area. Once saw 3 bulls and 3 cow moose a short distance apart near antelope flats in Grand Teton NP. This was the first time in our yard.

My favorite places to visit out there in addition to YS are hiking the Taggert Lake Trail in GTNP - short easy walk to a beautiful alpine lake, hiking the Phelps Lake Trail in GTNP - another 1 mile hike to the lake and then a 7 mile loop around the lake with a great rock to jump off into the lake - about 20 foot drop - lots of bear in the area - saw 6 one hike - momma black bear and 2 cubs and momma Grizzly with 2 cubs, and finally taking the gondola- not the tram - up to happy hour at 9100 feet at JHMR.

here is a Bull we came across hiking the Cascade Trail in the Grand Tetons this past summer. There was a cow further upstream and one downstream with a calf as well. We didn’t get any closer than 30 yards I would guess. He was streamside in the middle of the day just keeping cool. It was a fantastic and arduous hike as well.

Coolest thing I’ve seen is a grizzly swimming across the Snake River at Oxbow Bend toward a moose cow and calf on an island across the way. Location is very famous for great photos. Unfortunately did not have a camera with a long lens this time.

yep, they generally hate dogs-they seem to regard all dogs as wolves
they are generally ok around people (except during the rut, when they go insane), just keep your distance
