Go eat at TBT Butcher Shop in The Bay or The Pass and get the smash burger. Can't go wrong there.

Ate at Mary Mahoney last Friday night and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Split an entree and a bowl of gumbo with a dessert which kept it reasonable.

What do you guys recommend for best local food spots in and around Gulfport?
Bbq at Salt pepper oak in back of Diamondhead. Limited hours and they typically sell out early, plan accordingly. Prices are high as giraffe ***** unfortunately.

I had a really good meal at Felix's a few weeks back. I had never been there before, but the atmosphere and food (and drinks) were good. Cool spot to look out over the water and hang out on various patios too.

eta: it's actually in Gulfport, if that helps. I love Mary Mahoney's and other suggestions, but they're in Biloxi or farther away.

Fake money for fake fish!
This is ********. It wasn't fake fish. Maybe it was vietnamese, so try paying with Dong?

But like the currency. Don't do anything that's going to get you charged with a felony along with Mahoneys.

Some of this may be dated info, but if you really mean in Gulfport and not just on the coast:

Chimneys is probably the best.
Rackhouse and Half Shell are both solid to really good. I would not get steak at either though.
Brooklyns and Tony's are good if you want pizza, but I don't know that either is a pizza I would go out of my way to get unless you just don't have good pizza in your home town.

I would say out of the beach front touristy places, the recommendation for Felix's is probably a good one as long as you're realistic with your expectations. Going to be a little hit or miss on food but a nice atmosphere. Probably less hit or miss than Shaggy's.

If you want a poboy, I would do takeout from Ben's Deli (cash only) before I did Lil Rays. Lil Rays isn't bad, but I think it was just so popular because it was first. Other places are as good or better now.

If you are open to more areas of the coast, I will say while Gulfport has plenty of good food, Chimneys is probably the only restaurant that would make the list of recommendations if you were looking from Bay St. Louis to Ocean Springs.

I get sticker shock at legit bbq places, which leads to me making my own, which leads to me thinking "I'd charge $100/lb" after spending 5-6 hours on 2 slabs of ribs or whatever.

It’s worth every penny but plan accordingly is correct

Lil Rays is always good. Pirate Cove in Pass Christian is good for po-boys (owned by a good dawg as well).
I'm a hole in the wall dive kind of guy usually so something like Hot Roast Beef, Oyster, or Shrimp PoBoy from Lil Rays w/ an order of onion rings and a Barq's Root Beer in a bottle always makes me happy. Then some Ambers from Abita and I'm a happy camper

I bought a golf cart from Gulf Coast Carts in Pass Christian. I went to pick it up and there was a BBQ place next to the cart place. Some of the best BBQ I’ve ever put in my mouth. Brisket and pork belly was world class. Can’t remember the name of the place, little hole in the wall joint but it was good.

Chimneys and White Pillars were really good. Madison De Lu had very good gumbo and shrimp poboy. There’s a fancy Waffle House in Gulf port as well!

Trapani in BSL were very good.

Chimneys and White Pillars are really good. I miss Bootleggers tavern-style Chicago pizza and Yes Noodle. Brooklyn Pizza is good. Half Shell is good. There really are enough places where the food is good enough. That is, it's reasonably priced and tastes fine and has good atmosphere. Nothing wrong with that for a night out.

Twin Peaks in D'iberville has the trashiest servers I've seen in awhile, so it's my go to.
Years ago I always thought Playboy should have a "Women of D'Iberville" issue. Or did Hustler do one? Surprised Mayor Pete did think of that for Biloxi.
