Headed to see Nosferatu this afternoon, will report back.
A very fine film with excellent cinematography. Eggers took a very creepy, dark, and slower paced approach to retell the tale of Orlok (Dracula) and his love. Terrific performances by Lilly-Rose Depp, Nick Hoult, Willem Dafoe, Ralph Ineson, and, of course, the embodiment of evil, Bill Skarsgard. Skarsgard has played two of the creepiest characters in recent cinema history. Will probably win some Oscars for acting and cinematography.

I don’t get the Springsteen reference. Are you saying that the film seems to reflect Springsteen’s career more than it does Dylan’s?
Let’s see if I can explain my thought. I am not sure the ‘younger’ generations knows who Bob Dylan is. So they might see it as a work of fiction based on Bruce Springsteen life but set in the 60’s Imo a lot of Bruce’s early works ( the wild, innocent, e street shuffle) were inspired influenced by some of BD work ( Lilly rosemary and the jack of hearts)
In some ways the movie is almost unbelievable except we know it’s all true
Fwiw ED Norton is wonderful as Pete Seager he nails. According to the credits all the actors played and sang their own parts

While channel surfing last night, stumbled upon a film called

The Whistlers

It's a "Ro" manaian film, about a crooked cop who needs to get a crook out of prison. He befriends a prostitute (isn't there always a prostitute in these stories?) as part of the plot. It's called the Whistlers because there is an island called Gemora where the locals have a unique way of communciating through whistling.

Movie was primarily in Romanian with subtitles. Some English dialogue. Really an enjoyable film.

Photo of actress who is said prostitute. Actress' name is Catrinel Marlon.

Got to see A Real Pain & Gladiator II, Gladiator II has to be one of the worst sequels ever, just stupid repetitive plot and acting. A Real Pain had some nice acting moments but a rather meh film.

The more I think of The Brutalist, the less I like it. Brutalism was a real thing in architecture and there is a summing up at the end of the movie which seemingly has nothing to do with this historical reality. Great acting and framing with a rotten, exploitative center.

Have to agree that Gladiator II made absolutely no sense. Terrible.

Wait, is this about brutalist architecture? DC loves some brutalism....

As an aside -the actress in the movie (pictured) was also in TV commercials for Fiat Abarrh including the one where Charlie Sheen drives the car through a house party.

Been lucky with channel surfing lately....

Stumbled upon A Woman in Gold. When I first came across it, I saw it had Ryan Reynolds, who I consider to be about as talented as Vince Vaughn. Which is to say....not much.

But, started watching and have to admit - it was really good. Helen Mirren is the lead - she is an Austrian woman who'se family had a painting taken by the Nazis during WWII. She fights the Austrian government to get it back, and Ryan Reynolds is her attorney. Katie Holmes plays his wife.

A good movie (true story). A lot of flashbacks to when lead was a young woman in Austria. The yonger version of Mirren is played by Tatyana Maslany - a Canadian actress who was amazing in Orphan Black.

A really bad one this past weekend. It was called Kill Shot (2023). Wow so bad made absolutely no sense at all. Ex-seal hunting guide in Montana finds a plane crash with a $100M. Almost bad enough to recommend but not quite.

Yeah but who in the middle of being chased with guns and bullets wouldn’t stop and pause and have that fantasy

Becoming Led Zeppelin is highly recommended by me and particularly if you are a Zep fan.
Go see it in IMAX. Concert footage is great and the sound really shows how powerful Zep was. Nice background stuff from Page, Plant, and Jones. Film covers up to the first two albums. I really hope they continue this journey with all the other albums.

Nosferatu is now streaming on the ‘cock! A worthy watch!
I saw that it's now streaming on Paramount+.
Another one that sounds interesting is Elevation on MAX.
Also Reacher dropped on Prime and Dark Winds is set to start back up on AMC.

Saw The Monkey yesterday. It was a gory hoot, a horror comedy that had some laugh out loud moments. I liked it much better than Longlegs.

You can pick up one of these popcorn buckets too at AMC theaters only

Longlegs was such a disappointment. I love Nic Cage and would watch anything he is in, but I don't think I can recommend that to anyone.
