I’ve been rewatching some all time classic cable tv shows and currently on Deadwood. I love this show so much! Maybe not as critically acclaimed as others, but the characters are so deep. I guess it’s easier for characters to be interesting when they are over the top, but Al Swearengen is so rich. Some of the best dialogue ever.

For example: “You can't slit the throat of everyone whose character it would improve”.
I won’t spoil it for you, but in the last season their is a fight scene between Al’s enforcer and another dude that you will never forget.

Saturday on HBOMAX

Watched this over the weekend.
Ehhhh. Didn't like it much, not what I was expecting.
They did have some nice obscure concert footage and videos and the audio quality was good but that's about it.
I consider myself a Bowie fan and was underwhelmed.
🤷‍♂️

It wasn’t a “typical” documentary.

Yeah - started watching it and aside from being mostly chronological there was no narrative or anything - felt like an assembled collage of found footage and highlights.

Kind of what I expected when I saw the cast was all people playing themselves. I figured it would be a pieced together clip show and little else. Kind of hard to build a storyline when the main character is dead and you aren't casting anyone else in the role.

I finished watching The Fall with Gillian Anderson. I have to say it is the best detective series i have ever seen , it's there with True Detective season 1. Don't know how i missed this, probably work.

Nice - Anderson is excellent in everything. Added to my watchlist…

Finished up The Diplomat on Netflix and liked it.
I've been a Rufus Sewell fan since Dark City. Kari Russel and David Gyasi are also very good in it.
Pretty good but last episode left you hanging.

I’ll also put in a good word for the Diplomat on Netflix. The plot is very compelling and seems like real life being played out right now. It’s very well photographed.
+1. I was not expecting to like it as much as I did. The story and acting is top notch.

I’ve been seeing clips of “Rise of the Footsoldier”. It’s only streaming on something called “tubi”, but maybe elsewhere for a fee. Anyone watch it? Is it worthwhile?

Watched a Green Lantern animated movie on MAX last night called "Beware my Power" it was pretty good. (Green Lantern is my favorite Superhero and John Stewart is my favorite Green Lantern). Hope they go through with the steaming series. I vote either Trevante Rhodes, Sope Dirusu or Omari Hardwick as John Stewart.
DC Animated series and tv shows are better than their live action movies. It was also better than the last Ant Man movie.

Due to recommendations on this site I purchased a Roku a couple years ago.

Despite my age and previous love of cable I am extremely happy with my decision.

When I see people poo poo streaming and it’s future I have to laugh. It’s obvious broadcast is dead and cable is right behind it. None of my kids or friends have Comcast anymore.

Even NBC Sports Philadelphia uses YouTube to show their postgame Phillies show. I click on it to get an update before going to bed.

I can’t go to games anymore, but my son showed me how to stream every Penn State game last season.

WHAM! Some documentarians find a subject, and they’re good to go. But Chris Smith (“Sr.,” “American Movie”) is said to have been given unprecedented access to the archive of the band Wham! So he was good to go-go. (July 5 on Netflix)
