You’re bitching about lack of respect for a small population state and a university of less than 25,000 students. Get used to it!

What with Tupelo already being in Ole Miss's sphere of influence with a campus located there, I think if you want to link Mississippi State to a city the answer is where it's already established...

Edit to add: One big problem of course is distance. 90+ miles.

By comparison, Clemson to Greenville is less than 30 miles.

That description could also refer to Clemson until three years ago.

And Clemson does *very* well.

Agree but I’m resigned to the idea that MSU and Ole Miss will simply have to grow together. What’s good for us is good for them and vice versa. I don’t expect that to be popular but it is what it is. We screwed that up long ago.

Mississippi needs to grow, period.

The one o’clock stance is subtle. It gives the impression that Clemson is always going forward.

Either area has to grow A LOT to make a difference. I honestly think you should do something different and make things more in the vein of a destination place. Great golf, recreation, etc. and you don't have to have everything right in Starkville. I don't know why we don't have a package with the Casino in Philadelphia to start. We need to add things that families, groups, and couples will find interesting other than just football. Hell, make an area for those not in a lot or saved area to tailgate and get food, mix with other fans, play areas for kids, rent a tent/spot buy good tailgate food for a decent price. The list can be as small to start with to gain interest before you spend a lot of money. If you do it right it will make money even when football is not going on. I don't know but if we want more people we need things that will make them spend their money for experiences other than the ball game.

However, equally as important is the "why" behind the 1:00 stance -- Football games back then kicked off at 1:00 at Clemson. The university intentionally acknowledged the imprtance of football and built on that.

Meanwhile....back in Starkville...MSU is mulling over the possibility of lights on the stadium for a night game...which finally was accomplished in 1985 and brought State out of the era of leather helmets.

As for logos? "Yeah, maybe we should get on of those..." was the prevalent thought
