Path to 6 wins. Does it still exist?

Given our offensive showing in 3 of 5 games this year, do we have a realistic path to 6 wins? We need three wins from: Bama, OU, Mizzou, A&M, Wofford, Vandy, Clemson. Conventional wisdom entering the season had us with wins over Vandy and Wofford. The Vandy game is, at best, in the tossup category for us now. That puts us at 4 wins needing 2 more from that list (minus Wofford).

I just can't see it. This team looks very uninspired. We play some good defense, but also seem to shoot ourselves in the foot on defense as well (e.g. four offsides on hard counts). Offensively, we are a total mess with no discernible strength or identity or playmaker.

You point out that our offense looked bald in 3 of 5 games this year.

With a win over wofford, we need that offense that showed up in 2 games to also show up when we play Vandy. Then, we hope one team craps the bed when we play them. That happens. Maybe Missouri goes in the tank? A&M has their qb get hurt again?

There is a pathetic, but we're hoping for others to fall down at this point.

This past weekend shows us that anything can happen on a given day.
As I stated in another thread, I think the off week hurt us mentally and the team has to work on getting the mental part corrected.

Part of the problem is that for those teams who show anything can happen, they play inspired football. Even Vandy has a good D and a QB playing very well. Outside of our D, which plays well but inconsistent, where do we have a strength? We have zero offensive playmakers.

After Alabama, every game on our schedule, we have a chance to win. We also have a chance to lose. I am hoping for option A.

We shall see

6 wins could end up being a curse long term. If we manage a big upset against a Missouri and beat Wofford and Vandy and end up with 6 wins and a total crap bowl invite a sizeable portion of the fan base would be "happy" and think Beamer had turned the corner. The reality would be, we won 2 games against what would be considered legitimate competition, UK and Missouri, and won the gimme games we thought we'd win before the season started. If we then beat some horrible directional school who also went 6-6 in a useless bowl to go 7-6 Beamer would be off of the hot seat.

Right, And, as I noted before the season began, a 6-6 record would not signify improvement over last year's 5-7 season. Last year we had 3 gimme games. This year we have 4. A sixth win would only represent picking up the additional gimme win.

Of course, this was under the pre-season belief that Vandy would be a gimme win, which doesn't seem to be as much the case any longer.

Sure, it’s possible, but definitely a challenge considering only one sure win on the schedule(Wofford) and one toss up (Vandy). We’ll be underdogs in all the other games. If we can beat Wofford and Vandy I think Missouri is the next best bet. After that , in order,
OU
A&M
Clemson
Bama.

Bama is going to come out looking for blood. We will too, but very talented guys versus average talent will win the motivation war. Maybe Bama will still have a hang over, but not counting on it.

College football is the most insane sport on the planet for unpredictable wins so it’s possible. Technically it’s possible. It’s highly unlikely.

Our path to six wins resembles the washed-out eastbound lane of I-40 in NC right now.
