we have had some uncharacteristic penalties through the first 3 games - i.e. lining up offsides, kicking the ball OOB on the KO, other offsides, etc. These have had a lot to do with our starting field position vs the other guys. Not sure we have had a season with this lack of discipline.

In addition to these kind of penalties, we seem to have the bad end of the stick with regard to the officials eyes. Some of the spots have looked way off and even the TV commentators have noticed this. We have had a couple very light looking holding calls wipe out long plays and not sure I see the push off by our WR when he is being held by the defender. Face masks on us don't seem to be missed, but on the other side were missed. Seems like a run of bad luck.

The announcers correctly pointed out on Sat that these type of penalties may come back to haunt us in the tougher games later this year.

You simply can not line up in the neutral zone (or even further offside).

Is it just me? I find the opponent lack of penalties more shocking.

I could probably look it up, but have we had BIG officials for a game yet? I guess the MAC officials are BIG JV like?

Can't speak for opponent's penalties called or not called but I recall almost all calls on PSU as being legit. It baffles me that No. 11 cannot line up correctly.

It’s all good because STICKS. o_O .

I love PSU’s football traditions, but everyone needs to shut the f*ck up with STICKS. o_O . So f*cking stupid.

Now I’ll shut the f*ck up. o_O

No doubt we are undisciplined. I’ll rephrase my post. I find It odd that all 3 of our opponents to date are in the top 8 least penalized teams in the country?

I’m sure it’s all just a misunderstanding.

One of my pet peeves. Missing a 53+ yard wide target from standing in the middle of it
I believe that's a few of those in his career, and they've all been left. I have zero experience coaching special teams (and haven't kicked a football in 25 years), but I'm surprised we don't encourage him to aim about 10 yards further to the right...it seems like we never kick the ball to the right side of the field, so maybe it's fully by design, and we're ok with some kicks OOB if it means directionally kicking those kickoffs. But with the % of kicks ending in touchbacks, we've really got to avoid those penalties on the bad ones.

jmo, but refs need to swallow the whistle on HALF of the interference calls they're making (both on offense and defense). Biggest distraction, disruption in games today.

You're so right, watched the Wazzo - San Jose St. game late. They let them play.

Out of curiosity ? Does anyone know how many times Abdul Carter has been off-sides this year.
