285: Kerk vs. Tony Cassioppi (TC)

256.2 vs. 247.8 at weigh-ins

Per 1
Nothing thru 1:30. Kerk gets a single and trips TC down, 2-0. TD works out with 45 sec left, 2-1. End. RT @ 27 sec for Kerk

Per 2
TC takes bottom. Kerk trips him back down, and gets RT over 1 min. Stalemate with 1:07 left (not sure about that call). TC gets flattened. RT goes over 2 min. End. RT @ 2:27 for Kerk as he rides him out

Per 3
Kerk takes bottom. TC gives a neutral start, so it's 3-1, Kerk. TC sort of reaches, nothing. RT is locked for Kerk. 1:15 left. TC sort of shoots and Kerk nearly pancakes him, but nothing. 30 sec left. TC reaches, blocked. End. With 2:27 in RT, it's a 4-1 DEC for Kerk.

Final: 23-14, PSU

Cheap $.02: RBY, Brooks, Dean and Haines came up big. Kerk with a dominant win over #3.

Starocci seemed a bit gassed tonight. Bartlett is too content trying to win 1-2 point matches, needs to open up offensively. SVN and Facundo need to get a bit stronger, skills are there. Both will be dangerous next year.
Haines has a real shot at a BT championship this year.

Getting a TD in 1st period is the key for Kirk against both the Michigan and Iowa HWT.

Thoughts:
RBY is my man of the meet for the beat down he put on Teske despite teske’s brilliant display of Iowa.
SVN and Facundo weren’t prepared to deal with Iowa wrestling
Bartlett looked like Bartlett at 149 last year, but I think he actually can learn from this and do more next time. Have to see it though.
Levi is the dude. Plain and simple.
Cstar was simply disappointing. A win is a win I guess, but that was a massive underperformance.
AB was what he should be.
Max Dean on top is a hammer.
Kerk is a bad bad dude when he’s feeling right

I guess it’s gonna snow down here in Fla. Brands and his team shook hands afterward. He must have gotten an ultimatum from someone way up.

Brands stalled out the entire match, wrestled smart, but boring. A 1st or 2nd period stall call would have opened the match. BTW how did Warner lay on the mat for 2 plus minutes doing nothing and not get called for stalling
