I'm setting this up in advance, so that everybody has the details they may need.

Please use the thread for all pre-match, in-match, and post-match discussion for the PSU - Michigan dual.

When:
Jan. 20, 7 pm EST

Where:
BJC, State College, PA

TV:
The match will be televised by the Big Ten Network

Audio Streaming:
The radio PBP, with Jeff Byers at the mic, will be streamed for free. The pre-match portion of the broadcast will begin at 6:40 pm EST, with the actual dual taking place at 7 pm EST. You can access the audio stream at:

PBP:
I'm OUT for PBP (sorry guys). And as a heads up, I'm also out for the MSU dual on Sunday. Hopefully, many of you will step up and provide PBP, thoughts, analysis, etc. during the match. Perhaps @GregPickel will chirp in from press row. As always, I remind folks that provide PBP to include scores for each dual, as well as the match score.

Thanks for setting this up, Tom!

I will 100 percent be here and providing PBP for the Michigan match. MSU is up in the air but hope to be able to do that as well. Either way, look forward to conversing with everyone tomorrow night for what should be a terrific match.

I'll be in Philly for the weekend but I am recording this tonight so that when I get back to my hotel I can watch it. It'll be a great later night wind down for me while my fiancee sleeps.

Is tailgating allowed for these events. Is there a rule that says football only. Maybe a tad colder up there though. 70 here today so walking to golf course to imbibe.

Fidel Mayora not Chance Lamar listed as Michigan's starter at 149 too, by the way.

Got to love the B1G. Michigan has hosted 5 of the last 7, and 6 of the last 9 meetings between PSU & Michigan wrestling. smh

This....along with all the times we've had to play O$U and UM on back to back weeks on the football field. They don't even hide it.

Just a quick reminder for all: Play-by-play results will be posted by period at the end of each match and not at the end of each period, just an FYI. But, of course, feel free to chime in as we go along.

Chance Lamar didn't travel with Michigan, Jeff Byers says. So, that explains that.

And, FWIW, Byers announced Haines OR Barraclough but TrackWrestling lists only Haines. So, guess we'll still have to wait and see, but that's where we're at. Byers also has Jake Woodley wrestling for Michigan at 197 (the Oklahoma transfer) but Track still has Yatooma listed.

Gary Steen (GS) vs. Jack Medley (JM) at 125 pounds

First period: Only some tie-ups one minute into the first period. Medley works around on a front headlock for the first takedown and a 2-0 lead with 1:30 left in the first period. Steen stands and spins out to 2-1 with about a minute to go. Medley is back in on a shot and scores another takedown to 4-1 but Steen escapes quickly to 4-2. After the two went off the mat, Medley shoots in on the legs again and secures another takedown for a 6-2 lead. The first period ends 6-2. Medley has 1:02 in riding time.

Second period: Steen on top to start the second after Medley took bottom. Quick escape for Medley makes it 7-2, and a quick shot is finished to 9-2 as he mounts a ride again. Now Medley tilts for four and a 13-2 lead, then Steen escapes to 13-3. But, Medley just as quickly scores a takedown to 15-3 with 20 seconds left in the second. That's how the second period ends and Medley has 2:05 in RT.

Third period: Steen down to start the third. Medley needs blood time before the period begins though. Action now back underway and Steen is trying to fight off a pinning combination and does for now, but the near fall points make it a technical fall.

Jack Medley wins by technical fall 19-3.

Michigan 5, Penn State 0 after 125 pounds

133 pounds: Roman Bravo-Young vs. Dylan Ragusin

First period: Little action for the first two minutes and then Ragusin is hit with stalling but Ragusin drives back in on a counter and is given a takedown on the edge as the two go off the math. It's under review. RBY was in on a single leg and pulled Ragusin back in and Ragusin quickly countered. After review, the takedown is awarded (correctly in this view) for a 2-0 lead for Ragusin after one.

Second period: RBY down to start the second. He's out in about 15 seconds to 2-1. RBY on a lightning quick single gets a takedown for his first lead at 3-2. RBY rides out the period to finish with 1:04 in riding time and leads 3-2.

Third period: Ragusin down to start the third, who stands and is returned to the mat as RBY starts a ride. Riding time is now secured, so it's really a 4-2 lead with 40 seconds to wrestle. RBY rides it out and wins 3-2 with well over two minutes in riding time.

133 pounds: Roman Bravo-Young 4, Dylan Ragusin 2.

Michigan 5, Penn State 3 after 133.

Wow. Was totally expecting RBY to get bonus points. Not saying he doesn’t win a Natty, but it just seems like he’s not scoring the points like he did the last 2 years. Matches you expect a major a TF have been decisions.

Eh, I think Ragusin pretty much wrestled the perfect match there. Should RBY have scored more? Sure, I get it, he's a two-time champ. But Ragusin was content stalling without stalling enough to get called for it and RBY was content with controlling him for the final period and a half.
