Try going back to the 47 Cotton Bowl. That was the origin of it
Actually, it was 1948 Cotton Bowl. (game on 1/1/48).Try going back to the 47 Cotton Bowl.
Sorry, I was going with the true origin, not the version that Guido invented.Try going back to the 47 Cotton Bowl.
Dude, Michigan lost a home game to Oregon by three touchdowns.Everyone is forgetting, it’s not the second loss, it’s the 3rd. We’re here right now cause we didn’t play Michigan
It was brutal on the main boardPretty much every time we play a school we haven’t played since all that stuff went down there are fans of the other team who write this same middle school stuff online.
But OSU?Dude, Michigan lost a home game to Oregon by three touchdowns.
Matt McCartin, OTQuiz question
SMU suffered the Death Penalty in the 1980s. One SMU football player transferred to PSU.
Does anyone remember who that is?
Yeah, but we are clearly a better team this year than Michigan is. OSU blew that game, gave Michigan the W.But Michigan beat OSU?
Yeah, but we are clearly a better team this year than Michigan is. OSU blew that game, gave Michigan the W.
the venom that is spewing toward us due to the brackets is insane. they are blaming the committee for setting this up, but the committee just ranks the teams. the brackets were set before the rankings. what they are really saying is that SMU and Boise do not belong - others are better. they do not think we deserve to be in #4 position and Childers said this morning we don't belong in the playoff at all. This is a double-edged sword.
We got a VERY favorable road in the playoffs. We draw one of the weakest opponents for a first round home game, and if we beat them, we get the Group of 5 representative.
Wow. Hard to complain about that.
BUT... if we lose in the first two rounds, we're gonna look like chumps, and oh, the criticism of our program is going to rain down like flaming arrows!
Penn State would not have been selected for a 4-team playoff this year. It would have been Oregon, UGA, and Texas. The choice for the 4th team would have been ND or tOSU. We would have gotten another NY6 bowl, but no playoff. The irony here is that we finished #4 in the committee’s final rankings in the very year they expanded the playoff to 12 teams. After all of those seasons of getting into the New Years Six but falling just short of the four-team playoff, it is when the playoff expands that we finally finish in the top four.
you can see the impact of losing some of our players at DT and be worn down in some other areas. I would love to have the team we started training camp with.Defense really needs to get its act together. Liked a suggestion I saw that if holding is not being called put Carter at LB for most of the snaps, or at least move him around more. Might be better able to take advantage of his skills at LB.
Until this year Indiana was 2-42 in their last 44 against Michigan.Yeah, but we are clearly a better team this year than Michigan is. OSU blew that game, gave Michigan the W.
Two questions.the venom that is spewing toward us due to the brackets is insane. they are blaming the committee for setting this up, but the committee just ranks the teams. the brackets were set before the rankings. what they are really saying is that SMU and Boise do not belong - others are better. they do not think we deserve to be in #4 position and Childers said this morning we don't belong in the playoff at all.
There is no reason to believe that we wouldn't have been 4th regardless. Then again, everyone was convinced that the committee is biased and was going to put Alabama in, or drop us behind Notre Dame and/or Ohio St. In the end, then did just as I would have expected...and likely would have done the same thing if it was 4 teams.Penn State would not have been selected for a 4-team playoff this year. I care about I why? “We’re better than I” yawnUntil this year Indiana was 2-42 in their last 44 against Michigan.
You keep saying that if we had played Michigan this year we would have lost, because we always lose to Michigan. Put some brainwork into it. Indiana almost always loses to Michigan but beat them this year.I care about I why? “We’re better than I” yawn
I agreed until i watched the m v osu game. Did you watch it too?You keep saying that if we had played Michigan this year we would have lost, because we always lose to Michigan. Put some brainwork into it. Indiana almost always loses to Michigan but beat them this year.
If you watched the other 11 Michigan games, you’d feel much differently.I agreed until i watched the m v osu game. Did you watch it too?
Yes.I agreed until i watched the m v osu game. Did you watch it too?
It would have been Oregon and then a wrestling match for two loss Georgia/Texas/PennState. If it fell in the order we have today, the playoffs would have been TWO rematches between 1) Oregon vs 4) Penn State, and 2) Georgia vs 3) TexasThere is no reason to believe that we wouldn't have been 4th regardless. Then again, everyone was convinced that the committee is biased and was going to put Alabama in, or drop us behind Notre Dame and/or Ohio St. In the end, then did just as I would have expected...and likely would have done the same thing if it was 4 teams.
If they had the teams but didn’t love the matchups, it would have been much easier to put us at 3 and avoid the rematches. It would have been Oregon and then a wrestling match for two loss Georgia/Texas/PennState. The only reason the old system would drop Penn State from the final 4 is because they would strongly prefer the ratings of Oregon vs NotreDame to a Oregon vs PennState rematch.
Penn State had a better resume than NotreDame this year. And OSU's loss to Michigan sunk them from consideration when they missed the championship game.
Definitely easier, but not as much fun as screwing over Penn StateIf they had the teams but didn’t love the matchups, it would have been much easier to put us at 3 and avoid the rematches.
Franklin has been pretty even with Michigan when they aren’t cheating. And he’s consistently good against teams where we are favored. We would have beaten Michigan this year; I’m disappointed we didn’t play them. You keep saying that if we had played Michigan this year we would have lost, because we always lose to Michigan. Put some brainwork into it. Indiana almost always loses to Michigan but beat them this year.
Looks like the sisters have integrated. They’re now accepting brunettes.Bigger pics:
Sending them back to Texas alone is punishment enough.Just took a visit over to their site and an abundance of those references there by knuckledraggers. Let’s whoop their Pony a**** & send them back to Texas broken for the holidays.
You can't spell smewpie without s-m-e-wI came to an important realization and decision today. Saying s-m-u is a lot work, and they aren’t worth the effort. They are one word, not an acronym. They are smew.
Sorry, I was going with the true origin, not the version that Guido invented.
Just not a fan of the contrived version of it.
Penn State History Lesson: 'We Are' Chant
As SMU comes to town, let's revisit how the school played a part in coining one of the most iconic phrases in college sports.onwardstate.com
And Onwardstate jumps in on the fabricated version of the cheer.
Nice post from a bunch of Methodists.
