Portal recruiting is going to be a disaster this offseason.

Where is this reported?
I’m trying to figure that out too. Having plenty of money for NIL in the era of free agency and not being able to sign players, does not add up. Simplest explanation would be we have some nil money shortages.

of course there are cases where the kid doesn’t like the campus, wants to play for a playoff team etc..but that’s not the majority. Otherwise all these bad teams wouldn’t be turning over their roster in one season. In fact I haven’t heard of a P4 team not being able to get players if they have money to spend.

Arizona under Fish loaded up in the portal, Arizona State loaded up in the portal. Arkansas was bad last year and they loaded up in the portal. Lots of bad teams not having a problem getting good players.
Hmmm.... Tucson and Tempe vs. Starkville. Yeah I can see how that would be a tough decision all things being equal. Hell, Fayetteville, vs. Starkville. Even Nashville vs Starkville! Come on! If a 20 year old is offered $150000 to go to Nashville or a $200000 to go to Starkville, you have to know what they are choosing. Same with Fayetteville, Auburn, Columbia, Lexington, Baton Rouge, Columbia Mo., Baton Rouge, College Station, Knoxville, Austin, Etc....

do you really believe nobody in the portal is willing to be paid top dollar to come play here ? How did we ever sign players in the past ?

It isn’t though. When players are committing to other places on less money than what State is offering that’s not an NIL problem.
You have made this statement multiple times. Spill the beans if you have factual knowledge. And if so which coaches can't recruit ?? Turner ? You said they don't call , follow up, etc

They're taking the extra $50k, there's no way you're this dumb.

Well no doubt there are more factors at play than simply money. Playing time and chances to make the next level are big. Winning and TV exposure. Plus no doubt some kids have geographical preferences. Buuuut....still money is the biggest draw. If we are offering 50k more and losing a kid to Arkansas there is a big problem

That's not happening. We just have a bunch of fans who hate our program and want us to fail. No one on this boards know the particulars of any deals nor the NIL war chest of any program.

My problem isn’t so much with our NIL bankroll as it with the people in charge of closing the deals. We saw multiple defensive portal recruits visit Starkville and commit elsewhere a day later. We were left with a bunch of P4 players who couldn’t get on the field in lesser conferences. And the kids we were on initially ended up at places like Kansas and Purdue and Pitt.

To me it starts and ends with the coaching staff. And frankly, recruiting has gotten worse. Jumping on a mid-level CUSA cornerback seems like a desperate move when the portal hasn’t even opened for the vast majority of players.

What kid ever wants to go to Fayette Nam ? But all this bitchin and finger pointing is not gonna help a damn thing. It's all up to Lebby and his coaches to guide us out of the wilderness. Therefore I will simply say " God help us" cause I think we are gonna be taking the scenic route

Because they’re doing a better job of recruiting. You can’t just throw money and that be it. I don’t understand why this is so hard to grasp.
I doubt we’re throwing much money at it either. Next year is a lost cause. Nobody good is going to want to play for these defensive coaches if they have other options.

We've already got indications how portal recruiting will go when we offer one of the very first CB's to go into the portal - Kennesaw State's Jayven Williams.

A.) Kennesaw State is barely an FBS program. Why the hell are we targeting any of their players?
B.) Why the hell are we handing out offers to any portal players this early, especially one who isn't even a top C-USA player (like Kelly A. was last year)?
C.) Why should we trust the evaluation of any of the current defensive coaches? The best transfer we had on that side of the ball *literally* grew up a Bulldog fan, otherwise we don't get him.

Our defensive recruiting under this staff is indistinguishable from a Sunbelt team. We could have $50 million to hand out if NIL money and we'd still end up with a bunch of G5 nobodies and P4 has-beens.
Where did the very good RB for Arizona State play last year? Was it Sacramento State???

This staff is clueless.

We will just be riding out the cycle until salmon and keenum are gone.

Did you notice Toledo had better talent than State? State best Eastern Kentucky, an FCS team, and UMass who got pummeled by every SEC team they played. In 2 years, 2 different coordinators were hired to replace the only Former Sitting HC State has hired in over 60 years and proceeded to completely tear the program to the ground. Go back and check the last time State only won 2 games in a season and went 0-8 in the SEC. Most of y'all were in diapers or still a twinkle in your dad's eye. Go back to the last time State hired a Sitting HC before Leach. Most of your parents were in diapers or kindergarten!

I would suggest hiring a recruiting hypnotist to complement our recruiting strategy.
