I do think if Nebraska gives Rhule time he will turn around Nebraska. He did it with both Temple and Baylor. Needs a couple of recruiting classes to get his players in there. If you count Nebraska (a stretch, I know) and Wisconsin as marquee match-ups, we get at least two good home games every year.
When they entered the league, I was hoping they would be a designated rival. Already some bad blood there, at least on our end.I do think if Nebraska gives Rhule time he will turn around Nebraska. He did it with both Temple and Baylor. Needs a couple of recruiting classes to get his players in there.
Unless I’ve read it too fast, we have no annual rivalry game. What of Ohio State-Michigan?
I checked: OSU-Michigan is a protected annual game.Unless I’ve read it too fast, we have no annual rivalry game. What of Ohio State-Michigan?
Gotta admit, I didn't see that coming.I checked: OSU-Michigan is a protected annual game.
Thanks for posting. Gives a little clarity to a conversation we had yesterday in which I posted an inaccurate schedule. Ohio State Whiteout? Welcome Washington to the B1G with a Whiteout?
I checked: OSU-Michigan is a protected annual game.
Also have a road game at WVU'24- we open up at USC and then follow that up with another road game at Wisky
I insist on it.As long as we open on the road each year, I’m fine with it.
Iowa has 3 protected, Minn, Neb, and Wisc., why not PSU - Neb, i guess it makes too much sense. We have no protection. We Are…Susceptible!
Because every B10 team was given the opportunity to provide a list of teams they wanted to designate as permanent rivals and Penn State responded with “none”. Wise decision imo.Iowa has 3 protected, Minn, Neb, and Wisc., why not PSU - Neb, i guess it makes too much sense.
I think 2024 is the toughest especially with the away game at MorgantownI think 2028 is tougher, IMHO.
I was thinking Labor Day weekend……USC away next year probably late Oct or Nov great time to head to L.A. for some warm weather.
I don't know anything about takeoff distances, etc., other than they vary from aircraft to aircraft. But I doubt they'll be extending the runway just because the football team will be flying to the west coast once per year. Or maybe they will for other reasons.I haven't heard anything about lengthening the runway at KUNV for these west coast trips (currently it's 6,700ft @ 1,231ft above sea level). Last Saturday I went over and watched the team depart for Northwestern. With an easterly wind the plane took off in front of where I was located. It was airborne, but really not that high once it crossed over the end of the runway. With the extra fuel that will be needed for west coast flights I wonder if they may not have to go to Harrisburg for those departures?
I don’t think the question is whether or not Nebraska will give Rhule time, it’s whether or not Rhule will give Nebraska time to turn it around. My guess would be no.I do think if Nebraska gives Rhule time he will turn around Nebraska. He did it with both Temple and Baylor. Needs a couple of recruiting classes to get his players in there.
agree - we don't need rivalry games. I am not sure they do anything for us. we play several of the top teams each year. it looks like they left Md on for a few years, not sure why they did that.I am fine with no protected rivalry. The only real option, in my opinion, is Maryland. Also, I am happy to not have OSU and Michigan every year.
PSU plays every school either 2 or 3 times over the 5 years. Maryland happens to be one of the “3” onesagree - we don't need rivalry games. I am not sure they do anything for us. we play several of the top teams each year. it looks like they left Md on for a few years, not sure why they did that.
My question also is for west coast teams flying into State College.I don't know anything about takeoff distances, etc., other than they vary from aircraft to aircraft. But I doubt they'll be extending the runway just because the football team will be flying to the west coast once per year. Or maybe they will for other reasons.
Have the game dates been announced? Link pleaseDon't know if this has been discussed here or not, just looked at next years schedule and I can't believe we have 5 consecutive Big Ten games at home...wow. Kinda stunned to be honest...
Wood...I just googled PSU Football Schedule for 2024 a bunch of sites came up. FBSchedules.com... The dates are not there. We open up at WVU on Aug 31. Have Kent or BG on Sept 7. Bye week on the 14th. Then Kent or BG on the 21st. First Big Ten game is at Minny, then 5 straight home games. No dates for any of the conference games.Have the game dates been announced? Link please
Because I am a nerd, I was contemplating this issue as well. My immediate thought is that they use smaller planes, and have to land somewhere to refuel, and then fly into KUNV.I haven't heard anything about lengthening the runway at KUNV for these west coast trips (currently it's 6,700ft @ 1,231ft above sea level). Last Saturday I went over and watched the team depart for Northwestern. With an easterly wind the plane took off in front of where I was located. With the extra fuel that will be needed for west coast flights I wonder if they may not have to go to Harrisburg for those departures?
I was led to believe that one of the requirements for PSU to enter the B18 was that upgrades to KUNV needed to be done. But, they had some time to do that.I don't know anything about takeoff distances, etc., other than they vary from aircraft to aircraft. But I doubt they'll be extending the runway just because the football team will be flying to the west coast once per year. Or maybe they will for other reasons.
