I do think if Nebraska gives Rhule time he will turn around Nebraska. He did it with both Temple and Baylor. Needs a couple of recruiting classes to get his players in there.
When they entered the league, I was hoping they would be a designated rival. Already some bad blood there, at least on our end.

Unless I’ve read it too fast, we have no annual rivalry game. What of Ohio State-Michigan?

No annual game for PSU. Oregon/Washington have each other locked. Otherwise it is the same locked games as announced under the previous press release earlier in the year.

Fantastic! The future schedules guarantee Penn State will play at least 2 power house Tier 1 teams every year.

Tier 1 Teams are: Penn State, USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Washington, and Oregon.

USC was scheduled OOC with Notre Dame @ the Coliseum on Nov. 30, 2024. If the Big Ten allows them to keep that date, someone else will need to go OOC on that day as well. Maybe UCLA vs. Cal. Or UDub vs. WSU. Or Oregon vs. OrSU. Or maybe all the above. UDub/Oregon have both said they'll keep their in state rivalry game so it'll be interesting to see how they schedule it.

Oh for ****’s sake!!🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🙄

This is what happens when a step-child institution dares to question the integrity of the Wizards residing in Rosemont as to their overt scheduling bias

They “award” you with 3 of 4 of the new conference powerhouse entrants.

Posturing and influence matters, but I don’t expect PSU to do anything other than ….

I haven't heard anything about lengthening the runway at KUNV for these west coast trips (currently it's 6,700ft @ 1,231ft above sea level). Last Saturday I went over and watched the team depart for Northwestern. With an easterly wind the plane took off in front of where I was located. It was airborne, but really not that high once it crossed over the end of the runway. With the extra fuel that will be needed for west coast flights I wonder if they may not have to go to Harrisburg for those departures?

I don't know anything about takeoff distances, etc., other than they vary from aircraft to aircraft. But I doubt they'll be extending the runway just because the football team will be flying to the west coast once per year. Or maybe they will for other reasons.

I don’t think the question is whether or not Nebraska will give Rhule time, it’s whether or not Rhule will give Nebraska time to turn it around. My guess would be no.

I am fine with no protected rivalry. The only real option, in my opinion, is Maryland. Also, I am happy to not have OSU and Michigan every year.
agree - we don't need rivalry games. I am not sure they do anything for us. we play several of the top teams each year. it looks like they left Md on for a few years, not sure why they did that.

PSU plays every school either 2 or 3 times over the 5 years. Maryland happens to be one of the “3” ones

My question also is for west coast teams flying into State College.

Don't know if this has been discussed here or not, just looked at next years schedule and I can't believe we have 5 consecutive Big Ten games at home...wow. Kinda stunned to be honest...

Have the game dates been announced? Link please
Wood...I just googled PSU Football Schedule for 2024 a bunch of sites came up. FBSchedules.com... The dates are not there. We open up at WVU on Aug 31. Have Kent or BG on Sept 7. Bye week on the 14th. Then Kent or BG on the 21st. First Big Ten game is at Minny, then 5 straight home games. No dates for any of the conference games.

Because I am a nerd, I was contemplating this issue as well. My immediate thought is that they use smaller planes, and have to land somewhere to refuel, and then fly into KUNV.

A 757/767 (which may be too big for KUNV) has the full fuel capacity and distance, but needs about 6400-8000 feet of runway.

I was led to believe that one of the requirements for PSU to enter the B18 was that upgrades to KUNV needed to be done. But, they had some time to do that.

Given the timeframes for the West Coast teams to get on the schedule, I seriously doubt an engineering design, including all preliminary design phases, preparation of construction documents, bid specification, put out to bid, and do the work would happen by end of August. And that is only for the contracting end - add in any requirements the NTSB and/or FAA would have, and I seriously doubt project completeness in time for next season.
