Cody Sanderson being interviewed. I'll summarize the Q, and the A is preceded by the hyphen

Michigan makes you work for everything
- that's a great team out there. A great crowd they had. Proud of our guys to come through and win some close matches

That was established right out the gate by Hildebrandt
- he did a great job. Wrestled really smart. We need to work on movement on bottom with him

RBY just missed the major. Kind of what you expect
- what I liked was that he got the back points, where usually he does it with TDs

Disappointment in Micic missing, but Lee did a nice job
- I was really happy with Nick. He cut him when he needed to. He was crisp in multiple facets.

Hoping to see Beau against Stornin, but in the 13 sec he looked good
- he came out like a cannonball. That's what we want to see

Bearclaw -- still a battle at 157. Lewan a tough opponent
- Lewan has great D, has great counter offense. We're tryin to figure out what we're doing in 157

Berge with a really solid 3-1 win. He seems to have good pop
- he looked good. He wasn't happy with it, and wanted more. 2nd match out, I'm happy with it

Logan Massa is dangerous. A terrific bout. A good match for CStar
- nothing wrong with getting pushed. He looked really good, and had to dig deep at the end. that's what we like to see

At 184, a great battle between AB and Amine. AB has that feel for the sport. It's uncanny
- Amine is tough. AB was really impressive. Surprised the ref didn't stop it before AB got the TD

Nice job by Dean
- That's a tough call for a coach. The longer your guy stays on top, the tougher it will be to get a TD if needed. We finally decided he had to ride him out. That was a nice exchange in OT; it was a fun match

At heavyweight, that was a really impressive win. The way Parris has wrestled folk the past few years, makes it special
- I had some concerns coming into the match. Would he be able to get out from bottom.
What would his conditioning be like. There was a lot of great stuff in that match

Short turnaround. It's a good MSU team.
- they've done a great job the past few years pulling in recruits. It's going to be a battle

How do you train through this 3-weekend stretch. How careful do you have to be to keep them rested
- we're thinking about the postseason, so we keep pushing them. We can't take our foot off the gas

A PSU win tonight is going to take an amazing effort. Each team is favored in 5 matches. PSU has the one non-ranked weight going and needs to hold it to a decision. Should be wild. Someone smarter than me would know.....have we had a match were only one wrestler, on both sides is unranked? It can't have happened often.
This didn’t age well, thankfully. It was a great event

Another interesting thing this year. More guys using that “run the pipe” finish on those single legs. The way the guys have perfected it, it’s almost impossible to defense because of the pressure coming down on the leg. Always innovating.

Kerk better be ready for Parris' response in their next match. Kerk sprung a new twist on Parris with the wrist control. Parris will have a counter ready next time around. Gotta keep innovating.

Did you not read my other comments in my post? Stop taking things out of context.

Kerk won tonight in the exact manner I thought he could. On his feet first, getting out from bottom quickly and getting the ride out when needed. Great job by him.
What did I take out of context?

Great coaching. No different than RBY hiding his left arm from DeSanto.

Speaking of, DeSanto looks like he's on a mission. DeSanto is always must see TV. Kid has incredible energy....and yeah, every now and then he goes off the rails.

@GregPickel can we get an interview with Max Dean and ask him how he is doing? Curious as the transition for him not only from school but also a big ten schedule perspective.
Penn State makes Cael Sanderson and one wrestler available each week. We'll see who it is on Tuesday. Brooks was last week so it won't be him again. Would guess maybe Kerkvliet, but I, too, would love for it to be Dean. We'll see.

Does anyone know why the refs weren’t counting when Dean went down to the single leg when he was riding?

Onto the big one next week at Iowa. Gotta beat Michigan State on Sunday first. Hope we don’t have any let down. Next Friday at Carver is gonna be insane.

I must say, Ayala’s got similar non-stop energy. Not crazy energy but kid goes non-stop. Not as good as ADS (yet). Despite loss tonight, kid is tough.

He’s the best we have right now at 157. Luke Gardner may have something to say about that though. I’m hearing he’s back or coming back. 👍
I’ll root for either guy. I was trying to say that Terrell looks tentative and when a kid’s not wrestling with confidence in my opinion he’s just waiting for the hammer to fall, to find a way to lose. I’m sure he’s a great kid but wrestling is so mental. He’ll jump a level when he finds that out for himself. Go Lions!

It’s some mix of talent and confidence, and I don’t know which he lacks. Here what Jordan Burroughs wrote the other day about confidence. 7B086511-D5BF-4C65-931C-475610A73780.jpeg

That’s the first time kerk blew me away. Sky is the limit. Didn’t like the announcers saying Paris was off. Maybe he was off cause of kerk
Kerk is right there with Gable when healthy like this year. Like to see him keep pounding the weights and good calorie diet like Cassar and get up to 245 to 250. Kerk can beat him once he gets stronger. He’s just as athletic. MO
