Puma seems to think so. Or at least that is the goal. BTW, I’m guessing F1 racing or pro soccer is the richest pro sports league in the world.

Not in terms of revenue. NFL more than triple EPL.

You win. I don’t even know what the f the EPL is. All I know is the professional guys on the European and Italian teams seem to be making a mint. That’s just more proof that our priorities in this country are grossly misguided.

EPL is the English Premier League (basically, the British pro soccer league). It's the highest revenue pro sports league not in the US (NFL, MLB, and NBA are all above the EPL in revenue) at about $5bn/year. NFL is about $17bn/year, MLB is about $10.4bn, NBA is about $9.5bn). Big difference in the way contracts work though and the crazy money is from Saudi Arabia which seems to just do whatever they want. I know other leagues have ridiculously rich owners too, but just in terms of league financial clout, nothing beats the NFL.

Thanks. I know the top F1 drivers make crazy money. If I remember correctly, Michael Schumacher’s income dwarfed any US athlete. On a side note, I can’t stand soccer whatsoever, I just know the stars are paid very well.

Roster size is important context here. The NFL has 53 players at once. MLB has 28? The NBA like 12. A big roster in the Prem is maybe 18 or 20.

The NBA and Prem have a smaller denominator and thus a higher average salary. I think.

There are outliers in each sport. Lamar Jackson. Jalen Brown (?!). Cristiano Ronaldo (until Dec).

This just about seals the deal it's Saquon's last year playing for the Giants. First he got a mid QB a huge contract then he got an OT a huge contract. If I'm him I demand a trade after the season. He can now prove he tried to play nice.

You generally can't fault a franchise for extending a young left tackle and over four years, this deal is likely to look cheap as it ages. It's the Jones deal that feels like it will haunt the team for the next couple of years.

If giants did this like they should have they wouldn’t be in this loser mode. Inside out is the way to build a team.
6. Indianapolis Colts, G Quenton Nelson, Notre Dame

Yeah. If we're playing this game, then there are a bunch of 2018 draft picks who appear more beneficial overall to that team than a RB:
  • Nelson
  • Josh Allen (hello?!)
  • Minkah
  • Derwin James
  • Jaire Alexander
  • Lamar Jackson (MVP winner)

But it wouldn’t have been Josh Allen, it would have been Sam Darnold….how would that have worked out?

You must not be familiar with the hindsight game. We discuss better outcomes only. 😉
I get it, but I would say in hindsight Saquon has worked out pretty well for the Giants. He was the rookie of the year, he’s put asses in the seats and eyeballs on the TV, and he got them to the playoffs when they weren’t a very good football team and even won a playoff game. Far better results than the #1 pick and the #3 pick.

"Asses in seats," huh? Giants home attendance has been flat during the years Barkley has been with the team and slightly below the level it was before he joined. Difference is not so significant to attribute it to him either way.

But you can’t determine what attendance would have been without him, so there’s no way to judge it. But the Giants have still benefitted from having Barkley.

The Giants averaged attendance of over 77,000 for each of the ten years before Barkley played and have never reached that mark, but have been close, since. But if you want to play that game, what would attendance have been without Danny Dimes?

Sure the Giants benefited from having Barkley. What team doesn't benefit from having good players?

That’s not the point, but you know that. Drafting Barkley #2 has paid off for the Giants…it turned out way better than the #1 and #3 draft choices, yet people still want to argue that you shouldn’t draft a RB that high.

And not as good as the seventh.

When Saquon leaps a tall building in a single bound or walks on water in something other than your dreams. let us know. Until then, I'll simply accept him for what he is which is an outstanding football player.
