I’ve seen first hand some of these neighborhoods that were thrown up in the late 90s/early 2000s in Desoto county. They did a really ****** job insulating them.
Just got a call from my wife saying the power is out at home. A minute later got a text from TVA saying they are implementing, for the first time, Step 50 of their emergency load curtailment plan and that power will be off for 30 minutes. I guess this is the new normal?
I forgot to mention we live just east of Starkville.
Again.... you will use the same amount per hour if it never shuts down. All the while, TVA systems (nuke, coal, natural gas, solar/wind) are producing electricity every minute of every hour.
While an individual’s power usage might hit a limit, you have to consider the impact of everyone’s heating systems not cycling off as often. That makes the average power demand across the system increase, taxing the grid.
