If the rumor is true, i won't waste much time checking in with sixpack nearly as much. I know it's an online message board, but what's the point if you continually get bogus messages like "it's a lock, he's in". Call me an idiot for ever believing anyone on hear, but that's exactly the point. If the board has no credibility, then why waste the time reading?

he's ours or its a done deal. Until he signs on paper with us its NOT a done deal. Hate to say it but in my view if he was totally sold on us there would have been a verbal after the Egg Bowl and this thing would have been done long ago. Not sure what the big advantage would be for him to go to Auburn and play second fiddle within the state to Saban and Bama but if that's where he decides to go then we will just have to move on I guess. At this point I'm just ready for a decision to be made so our staff knows where we stand and can move on with recruiting our class to fill in with the best talent left available at the positions where we have needs.

Wasn't "running smack" i was actually asking them what they had heard. Some of their posters took offense to my mere presence and started talking about real estate prices around Auburn. I'm just trying to get a real feel for what's going on.

for us this year would be Dylan Farve if we give him an offer. He may not be 6'6" and 245, but he also is not a drama queen attention ***** who gets off on any post on message boards, printed media, etc. Give me someone who isn't bartered like chattel and who wants to be here instead of orchastrating a media circus.

Folks, this IS recruiting. This exact same thing happened with Pernell McPhee and Georgia last year. If we want to have good players, this is what we're going to have to go through. We're not going to win seven games a year or more with a bunch of walk-ons. That is basically what Croom tried to do, with an occasional Dixon and Pegues recruit, and it didn't work. You have to have talent in the SEC if you want to win consistently.
Now, I think it would be kind of cool to win the SEC with a bunch of guys that are walk-ons and "want" to be Bulldogs, but it's just not very realistic.
And let's put this in context here- at some point within the next week or so Newton is going to commit one way or the other, and then he will forever be a Bulldog or Tiger/War Eagle/Plainsman/Toilet paper thrower and then it will be done with.
Just let him do whatever. He wants to have a press conference? Great. Have at it.
And he's not going to be a problem with team chemistry. Why? Because he's going to have his hands on the ball every play- except for maybe a few Wildcat plays. He's not going to have to compete with Tyler Russell, Chris Relf, or anyone else if he comes to MSU. He will be named the starter- just like when the Saints signed Drew Brees from the Chargers, he didn't have to compete with whoever the back-up was.
