College nostalgia for this board aside, State College doesn’t have a lot to offer a family that’s lived in bigger metro areas. And having grown up in State College, I imagine it has even less to offer a family of color.

My wife is a PSU grad like me, but she’d never remotely consider living there. For an up and coming coach, PSU offers a great resume builder, but nobody should fault the family for moving on after a few years.

This is the game. It’s good to see Franklin and PSU embracing it. They’ll find a great replacement.

south bend is a hell hole.

Is he that great of a coach and recruiter? He got Ford and Lee but they weren’t worth a darn. He didn’t really coach Saquon or Miles and while I think getting Allen and developing him has been very good, Singleton was the number one recruit in the country and it’s not like Seider was the main recruiter on that one either.

Also, to your point. To be fair, PSU OL is leaps and bounds better than it has been for years. RBs directly benefiting from that.

To be fair, Singleton has underachieved from what he was expected to be as #1 RB coming out of high school.

#13 has overachieved…but he has been that way since his freshman year.
Singleton has averaged 5.8 per carry on 12 carries per game. In all likelihood he and Kaytron will be the #1 and #2 all time leading rushers in PSU history. I would not call that under achieving.

He has been very good. But #1 back out of high school good? Not even close. Complete back? If he could block, he would already be declared for NFL.

Let the speculation begin ---According to recent analysis, some of the top college football running back coaches include: Cadillac Williams (Auburn), Damiere Shaw (Rutgers), Mark Atuaia (Washington State), Kolby Smith (Arkansas), Alonzo Carter (Arizona), Sean Dawkins (Cincinnati), Scottie Graham (Washington), Tyler Roehl (Iowa State), Devon Spalding (Wisconsin), and Trooper Taylor (Texas A&M), with Cadillac Williams often considered one of the best in the game due to his consistent development of talented running backs at Auburn.
ND RB coach who left for the Raiders was making over $725,000 at the Dome.
Seider is not irreplaceable.

This is a big loss. Seider is a great recruiter and has great connections in Florida, where we usually don't pull many recruits from. Nobody is irreplaceable, I'm sure Franklin will find a capable replacement as he usually does a great job of hiring. But this one stings, a lot, especially for a lateral move. Surely Seider has been approached with opportunities before this, I wonder what changed as he's been pretty loyal to Franklin.

Not a critical loss. Just as Knowles departure from OSU wasn't critical for them. Definitely replaceable with equal or better RB coach.
I think both are critical, there's a reason Knowles is considered one of the best if not the best DC in the country and Seider is easily one of the best recruiters in the country. We could easily end up in the same boat as we are at WR coach if not careful.

OSU will easily replace Knowles with a high quality DC as will PSU for Seider. In fact Seider will be replaced with a coach his equal.

Same could probably be said for South Bend. My daughter was a ND alumnus, ND faculty member for 11 years. So I've spent a lot of time in SB. Not really a bad town, but public schools are so, so ... no really good restaurants, a couple of ok golf courses, ... for some one who has experienced a bigger town (NYC, DC, etc) , you'd spend more time travelling to Chicago for your fun.

This lateral move seems weird unless there is was friction between Seider and Kotelnicki and Coach K prevailed. Much like the Knowles vs Johnson friction.

Like this play?

One play proves a lot. Watch them in their totality. Or better yet, read how the backs grade out. Or look at NFL draft rating of NS. Why do you think he’s coming back?

Here’s his draft evaluation. It does give it lower rating for pass blocking but then again in the description it listed as a strength. You look at his run blocking and he’s ranked in the top 10 out of a eligible running backs so I don’t think he’s as bad as you’re claiming or as good as the other poster is claiming .
