That Larry Johnson Sr guy is a sly one.

Has he been hanging on at OSU in hopes of getting the HC position?

Vrable or Kiffen. Problem is going to be bringing in someone who won’t clean house with that allstar team of assistants and whatever NIL deals they cut to these mercenaries who now will want to renegotiate to stay with a new staff.

He allowed his team to run back onto the field and get into a major fight that had to be broke up by using pepper spray. I have never seen something like this in my 60 years of watching CFB. That to me in itself is a fireable offense. Day just sort of stood there. IMO the NCAA and B10 have to do something, but I doubt they will. Both teams should be banned from post-season play this season.
Can we talk about this for a second?

Planting your flag on a host team’s field after beating them is an abjectly classless move. Winning the game isn’t enough? You have to rub their noses in it? How about showing some sportsmanship? Win or lose, shake hands and call it a day.

Franklin was 100% right to stop our own guys from doing this at usc and if these other coaches don’t have the integrity or the balls to stop their guys from doing it, then college football, itself, needs to step up ban this practice. It’s disgusting.

Be interesting to see Day’s response to what happened.

I’d be surprised if Day got an NFL job. I think he’s out at OSU after this year’s debacle. They spent $20 million on a two-loss team that lost its fourth straight to Michigan.
What if O$U wins the national championship?

The BIG will def get involved in this. The aftermath will be the lead highlight to start every sportscast from the final CFB weekend. You can’t have your conference heavyweights look like clowns needing to get pepper sprayed.
Nothing meaningful will be done to either team…do you follow Big10 sports?

College football is out of hand. Ryan Day lost by 1 point @ Oregon, and by 3 to Michigan. His overall record is 66-9.
Not really. No coach at OSU or Michigan survives after losing 4 straight to the other team.

If you mean something like a bowl game suspension or scholarship impact, then of course I agree. But the BIG is your brand and these two schools are the brand. I guess it’s possible to say that the rivalry is so strong that you can tune in and expect to see a post game fight with combatants pepper sprayed and cops hurt to further the experience.

What I do expect though is some type of fine and discussions around a “flag rule” to prevent this from happening again. You don’t have the losing team rush the field after the game but you have to at least consider what would happen if you had a contingent of MI winning fans getting on that field yesterday and possibly included in that mix. You have fire and gasoline here.

The lead to this is not that Michigan beat Ohio St again it’s the visual of the fight and pics of players after getting sprayed. If it’s viewed in any way as being bad for business, something is coming.

I think the B10 may see this as a positive. The most intense rivalry in CFB where pepper spray is needed to separate the rivals. Fight would make a great commercial to elevate the game to a superstar status. They could say no other conference has such a rivalry. The B10 would use the publicity to extract more money from all the networks and streaming providers.

IMO, Day completely mishandled the situation. Should have put a lid on his team. Then play the video of UM planting the flag on Ohio Stadium soil on a big screen placed above the locker room entrance so the players would have to see this every time they entered. It would be an incredible motivator for kicking the crap out of UM the next year. But still in this day and age of NIL, that type of motivation might pale in comparison to the $$$ motivation that the players expect to receive and they could care less about it.

I certainly see that side of the coin but in the day and age we have today where everyone is sensitive about everyone’s feelings, I see the other side as more heavy leaning.

They play the most violent game with emotion at its core. I think everyone sees at least the potential disaster that is bubbling underneath from something like a flag plant. Let this stuff go on and trump it up in promos and something really bad is going to take place.

Ohio St has the unique chance of making this all right. Last year, they might be done at this point. The real measure of what Day brings to the table is going to be on display starting in two weeks.
