Spurrier had two options: gut out an abysmal and worst season of his entire career or walk away mid season. Either way his ego was going to take a massive, massive hit. Legacy? That’s a different story.

edit: misread your post. Yes it would’ve worked out much better for everybody involved that he walked away after the bowl win over Miami. Our fate may have been much different.
Right, three options. He kept the ball when he should have pitched it out or handed it off.

I wish to the Almighty that Spurrier had retired in the same manner as Saban, especially seeing as how he wanted to. His legacy would have been significantly enhanced had he gone out the same way. I'm certain he wishes it also.
Compared to Sabin, Spurrier was classless.
