So if I've been following along correctly; One poster decides to go in the gutter and insult another poster, that poster responds by using facts and logic to support his stance on said topic, then you decide to ignore the person throwing out insults and instead chide the person defending his position?

So he should've just let the other person insult him in your view and not defend himself?

You're part of the problem, do better.
Got me in your sights? Hey, he wanted to go down that path and gave a myopic analysis of the landscape just to support his view on a divisive topic. I responded in a way to discourage him from going places most people don’t want to go here.

He wants to self-police Walmart and churches. I want to see us self-police this board. Which is more relevant?

I guess I am part of the problem then. Hope you continue to do better than me.

I remember the days when I watched a women's volleyball match on Friday night. Went back to the hotel downtown and had a few beers with a Lehigh fan. His son was going to wrestle Greg Elinsky the next day. I think you could still just buy tickets at the gate back then. The Lehigh dad had 2 extra tickets, prime seats, and offered them to wife and me. I promised I would be gentle during his son's bout. His son actually wrestled Greg well, if I remember right. His dad gave me some juice about Wondrous Wade that would have made some threads here.

Those days are gone. Wife and I traveled across the country to watch Penn State in the 70's, 80's, 90,s, 2000's. 2010's. When the dynasty hit us, we joined with my daughter and grandson and went to every nationals through Fan Experience." My grandson has yet to see PS lose. When Bo pinned MyMar and everyone was going crazy, he simply said, Bo Nickal saved the day.

The lean times were even enjoyable for us. I get a kick out of how spoiled the new fan base is. I believe tickets for Nationals from Fan Experience will be out next month, already have our hotel booked. Can't wait. Cleveland is good.

No. You wanted to insult someone for their way of thinking that you disagree with, when you could've just moved on and let it go. When he responded to you belittling him, you went off about mods and politics, hoping to get the last word and shut down the conversation.

Basically, you think you can comment however and whenever you like about whomever, and your target should just shut up and take it.

that list probably changes weekly!

So what? They have access to all the information that they need, and have contacts to consult if they are unsure. After having a previous close call with medications, one would thing that Brooks would have been even more cautious.

To my knowledge, that's only in Philadelphia, not the rest of Pennsylvania for open carry.
I wouldn't normally open carry however having open carry helps prevent trouble if you say reach for something on the shelf and your gun becomes momentarily visible.

There is nothing more that screams "i am an *******" than open carry in a public place like a store.
It's best not to attracting attention to yourself. I can see in certain cases it being okay, maybe a farmer or rancher running into town on a quick errand but with all of the options available now I don't think that's even necessary. You would be surprised what you can conceal these days legally.

Riiiiight. 7 permits and yet 11 states where you still can't legally carry. And the average gun fight lasts 3 seconds with 7 shots fired. Stick to what you know and remain silent.
Seems you’ve got the wrong person associated with your last line.

What he posted that you found so political, divisive or took exception to;
If the Supreme Court ever finally settles things once and for all, then perhaps there is hope of someday carrying in the other 11 states. Until then, if you are in a situation in one of those states where seconds matter, the police will be minutes away to show up and notify your next of kin.

How you responded;

Pretty good third grade analysis of the full picture.

Come on man. Guy was having a discussion with other posters on gun laws, (that had progressed from SS charges) which you excerpted part of one of his posts. That's what you posted.

Not done?
Funny story on that. I couldn’t close out the ad on my phone to get to the button to add the quote I wanted, which made the whole post meaningless. I gave up and edited the post to “Done” out of frustration.

Folks, I’m not against people having their PsOV. I am against going down rat holes on divisive topics. Keep it light. Keep it fun.

Go with Old Rasputin rather than Guinness. A different stout but far better imho. I had dandelion wine in college.

My grandmother used to go out back and pick dandelions for dandelion soup. I never forgave her for those memories...

The depression must have been nuts to live through.
Ever tried Smithwick’s? It’s a division of Guinness and one of their best. I actually got to visit the Smithwick’s brewery in Kilkenny Ireland on an all expenses paid business trip!😎

We want to control divisive topics as a business, to keep it respectable. We don't want it near schools! We don't want it sold to children! That's an infamia. In On3, we would keep the cess to the Iowa people. They're animals anyway, so let them lose their souls.

Is that why you started with personal attacks, instead of just saying what your problem was at the onset? That's why you decided to insult a different poster that dared to question why you did that? That's why you tried to make it look like he insulted you first in post 143?

Why not just report it to an actual mod and let them handle it? Or put him on ignore? Or let it go and not turn it into something bigger?

You made it divisive by insulting him and others first. Now you're giving everyone the best intentions speech, acting like you're not the cause of the problem. If you're going to enforce rules, great, but you should follow them as well. Including not personally attacking other posters.

Well said, i’ll add if the topic involves a person and some issue with firearms, people might talk about firearms and how they’re used and carried. If this gentleman has been caught and accused of violating, some law, people are going to discuss how those laws are implemented and why they have them in place in the first place.

I called like I saw it - as he over-dramatized only a narrowpiece of the debate that could be had on the subject. Having a fifth grader that had recent assignments related to debating, the description was something that just came to mind.

I did report it. But that really isn’t the entirety of self-policing.

Ignore isn’t the right option because I have nothing per se against the posters in general, only the direction the topic was going.

Note I never tried to debate the subject itself as that would go against the principle I started on.

My “best intentions speech” was to clarify that it’s the subjects here, not the people or their beliefs. Yes, I could have done better, but I’m okay owning my stance and actions.

Seems a few here have lived a very sheltered life. I hope that they never have to deal with reality. To each his or her own.
I'm very careful and still had 4 somewhat problematic situations. All were resolved peaceful because I saw it coming and avoided it. Two required direct confrontations. I neither case did I need to deploy my pistol ( meaning draw and display at the minimum). The last was me being followed from the ATM in a very deliberate way. The person decided it was better to just go the other way after a few blocks.

He wasn't the brightest thief. So yeah, things can happen out there even during daylight. Many of our small towns in Pa. have been overwhelmed by a criminal element. In face in recent years there was a huge drug bust in a local town. Just under 2% of the residents had arrest warrants for drug dealing in that operation. Obviously this can lead to local problems many cannot escape. Usually these folk tend to have dealings amongst themselves but there are more issues than back in the day.

Agree, no one is here to protect me so I do what I feel I need to do to protect myself. Humans are not the only things to worry about. I guess you have to have been a victim or have loved ones hurt to understand. My guns all have holsters but when needed there isn't time to open any display case for use. Just saying.

Maybe you guys should get a room. Maybe you don’t have to defend your honor by getting the last word in. Maybe we don’t need a forensic analysis of when the conversation went bad. Maybe that’s not interesting reading for other people. 🧐

Sammy, please get arrested again so we can get this thread back on track.
He didn't get arrested again, but he lost his coaching gig because of his arrest. It got mentioned but was not enough of a deterrent to swerve the conversation stream back to it's original direction.
Sammy and Pat tried.
