Not true. The site would be deluged with rants about the coaching and every variety of we deserve better posts. Fire FranklinYou guys saying no problem with PSU scoring at the end would be the first one's crying if the rolls were reversed and you know it. 4th and 3 you don't kick the fg and run up score, you run the ball and get the first down and take a knee or you don't get it and it's a turnover, but you don't try and run up score, how the games been for a hundred yr.
Without the TOs game would have ended.Exactly. The onside kick was a big flashing neon sign saying "game's still on."
Only on this board could this reach 3 pages.FFS. Media sensationalizing and trying to make a story out of nothing.
You are completely wrong. It used to be that way. Ever since the BCS came in to play, that concept went out the window. As well, he wasn't running up the score for crying out loud. They had 1st teamers in when we were fully 2nd team and we were playing basic football. Joe and McQuerry threw a bomb against Rutgers when were up 40, now that was running it up. Although I loved it. So stop shi*ing on Franklin. You guys saying no problem with PSU scoring at the end would be the first one's crying if the rolls were reversed and you know it. 4th and 3 you don't kick the fg and run up score, you run the ball and get the first down and take a knee or you don't get it and it's a turnover, but you don't try and run up score, how the games been for a hundred yr.
If the rolls are reversed, does that mean you put the butter on the underside (aka, the crusty side)? You guys saying no problem with PSU scoring at the end would be the first one's crying if the rolls were reversed and you know it. 4th and 3 you don't kick the fg and run up score, you run the ball and get the first down and take a knee or you don't get it and it's a turnover, but you don't try and run up score, how the games been for a hundred yr.
Joe and Fran didn't call that pass. McQuery audibled to it, which obviously was the right call just not in this game situation. Joe put his head down and shook it in disapproval. This play came up again when McQuery's gambling issues became public. You are completely wrong. It used to be that way. Ever since the BCS came in to play, that concept went out the window. I really don't care. It's infuriating to me that people will jump on Franklin because his 2nd team scored on freakin WV at the end of the game. With some people the guy can't win. Ancient history, there, Bob. After Penn State routed Ohio State 63-14 in 1994, it dropped from #1 to #2 in one of the polls.Penn State should be the first school ever to drop in the polls for winning too big. That would be appropriate.

Brown should be more worried about how our #2’s scored so easily against his #1’s.Franklin did absolutely nothing wrong. Brown complaining about it tells you more about him than Franklin playing his back-ups and letting them play.
Someone let me know when we have a similar discussion about ‘bad wins’ vs ‘good losses’ (and how the latter is better), because it’s coming.
ICYMI: At least five voting members of the AP put PSU 9th or worse after Week 1, including professional widget Rece Davis.
Exactly. Which is why any comparison to the '94 Indiana game holds no water.Ancient history, there, Bob. After Penn State routed Ohio State 63-14 in 1994, it dropped from #1 to #2 in one of the polls.

This is what we're up against'Penn State should be the first school ever to drop in the polls for winning too big. That would be appropriate.
CJF gave his explanation and it is reasonable. He said there’s other things he could say, but refrained from getting into them. Those things have been discussed on this thread. He took the high road. This is just a big misunderstanding
WVa had no problem leaving the 1's in to score late and then go for 2....so if the opponent puts in the 2's and 3's and scores it's really not that big a deal. They work just as hard in practice and good on Beau for getting in. Coaches like Brown want it both ways...it's just that simple.Personally, I prefer winning classy while keeping your head down and celebrating with the whole team after the game is over. But those days are long over. Celebrating first downs, chains after TDs or turnovers. I’d rather just take a knee and kill the clock I. This situation. But at this point I don’t really care. The kids who are playing don’t really seem to care much about it, so why should I? And if I’m being honest, the ones playing seem to be having more fun than players used to have.
Right. And we all saw Joe’s classy way of doing things blow up in our faces in ‘94. College sports are really professional sports now and winning by more might get you more money at the end of the year. It’s just business.WVa had no problem leaving the 1's in to score late and then go for 2....so if the opponent puts in the 2's and 3's and scores it's really not that big a deal.
