Not really sure what to say. I kind of gave up after the 2nd failed 4th down attempt in the 2nd half gave Mizzou the ball back deep in our territory after they'd just scored to make it a 9 point game. We went into halftime on fire, but NOTHING was going our way at that point in the game. For the way Beamer masterfully managed the end of the 1st half, his decision-making in the 3rd quarter was amateur hour. It felt like we were coaching ourselves right out of the game. Our D just didn't have like they normally do. It felt like a classic tale of two halves and seemed that old Missouri misery was going to get us again. I was keeping tabs on my phone but couldn't bring myself to watch it. Saw Mizzou go up 22-21 and figured it was academic from that point on. I've seen enough up our games to know how this thing would play out. Looked and saw they were up 30-27 and was about to just put the phone away for good, but the video was playing above the score, so I decide to watch our final drive...on mute.

That last drive just left me speechless. We don't win moments like this. Several mega clutch plays on the drive and then that final run by Sanders, he was just churning and simply refused to go down. I just couldn't believe what I was seeing.

The mentality of this team...to win a game on a night against a very tough opponent when we didn't have our best stuff. Our pass rush was really not much of a factor most of the night, and that's our bread and butter. Much like the 2022 UT game, I'm having trouble processing this win.

Stunned and elated. What a game. What a game.

I only got back in time to watch the second half. Had some of the same feelings though.

Definitely a game we have blown in years past.

It just seems like good things happen when Sellers makes plays with his feet. In the 3rd, it seems like we became too reliant on traditional run plays. Then, in the 4th, he did one of his Houdini-like escapes from a sack, made a play, and then the offense was suddenly clicking again.

Exactly. Give him a chance to make something happen. That seems to work better than designed plays. And of course, if the original read is open he’s getting pretty darn good at quick throws, too. What a game for him.

Never in doubt!

That’s the running joke between me and my 78 yo dad through all of these gamecock years. And it was the first thing I texted him tonight.

Could you imagine if we were watching Sellers do this stuff at Syracuse instead of here? Wow! He's special.

I was (justifiably) worried about the defense against the run. I was surprised about how they trucked our DL.

Started the first drive of the second half throwing the ball like we were going to run them out of the stadium but then DLogg went back to his old self and ran the same running play they were stuffing all night.
Nice to deliver a game ending final drive to beat Mizzu for a change, particularly after the way they were ragging the crowd when they took the lead.

Loggains actually joked about this with Beamer...he said maybe just don't call a play...snap it and let Sellers make something happen.

You're talking about the occasion where every championship SEC coach I've ever seen in that field position and with a multi-score lead at that point in the game would have punted the football.

The last I checked, the players and coaches won TOGETHER in spite of any lapses in playing or coaching. It was a great win!!
Well, you checked wrong. The cause was unaided by a couple of key decisions by the head coach. What happened was that players made plays when pushed to the wall by the looming consequences of those decisions - plays that averted a tragic, unnecessary outcome.

I see. It’s all on the coaches. The defense played poorly allowing Misery to come back in the second half solely due to White’s decisions. Same with the offense. All the missed opportunities were on Loggains. And Beamer just kept pushing them and pushing them against that wall until they could take no more.

Pure nonsense emanating from a defeatist mentality— one who can’t stand to see the Gamecocks succeed. Now I know why you went to the game. . . to see your team, Misery, play!

Very happy about the win, just thought we had learned our lesson to punt the damn ball and play field position. The 4th and 4 one bothered me especially. Gave up 20 yards of field position. Sure, there will be situations where we need to roll the dice, just didn’t see the need to gamble field position last night. But absolutely, great response by our team and kudos to Loggains for letting Sellers go wild. Missouri was ready for the run game.

They did a phenomenal job holding USC’s run game in check. They seemed well prepared in that phase of the game. Thankfully, Sellers has grown more and more confident as the games have progressed and played lights out!

This is why I have been saying "Trust the Process" when some people became a little negative about Sellers early in the year. We have a lot of fans that think we can never win big or win championships here. However, after really taking a good look at Sellers in the State Championship game his Senior Year in HS, the movie "The Matrix" came to mind. I 've felt since then "He's the One.". Lattimore was a big recruit. Gilmore was an important recruit, but we had never had that QB that had it all. Athleticism, Elite Arm Talent, Strength, Elite Size. My only question was how would that talent translate and how long would it take. These last three games are showing me that it is happening faster than even I expected. I haven't been this pumped up about our program since the Lattimore Georgia game in 2010. Yes it can happen here and I believe it will.

I give Beamer credit and criticism. The way he handled the end of the first half was fantastic. Actually, when we called time out during Missouri’s last drive, I said “what in the world are we doing the clock for them?” But all went exactly according to plan, they punted, and we got a touchdown. Fantastic coaching there by Beamer. As good as that was, however, his coaching decisions to start the second half or equally horrific.

As it is, it was one of those games. We made some dump plays and dumb calls, but made some great plays and great calls. Beamer just needs to be thanking his lucky stars that the team was good enough to overcome the bad decisions.

Rewatched the game. A lot of things went our way that usually don't. We had two fumbles and recovered both. Sellers threw a pick on the next play after he recovered his own fumble so that drive still ended with a turnover. Missery missed a FG, so no harm. We benefited from two DPI penalties that could've easily been no calls. On defense, we had a no call in the end zone that could have easily been DPI. Sellers was sacked, but it was wiped out by defensive holding that was borderline. There were 2 or 3 video reviews of low catches that could've gone either way. Oh, and as it turned out, Kilgore helped us win by missing the tackle at around the 5 yard line on Missery's last TD. The way they were running the ball on us, I'm assuming they would've scored anyway after using more clock. I'm not taking anything away from the victory. Usually the blue blood teams get the calls and maybe we were the blue blood because we've been in the SEC longer.

It was obvious from the beginning they were trying to make us one-dimensional. Except for one bad throw and not seeing deep open receivers a couple of times, Sellers thwarted their intention. He did a nice job overall.

If you want to be obtuse, I won't get in your way. Carried to extremes, it might flame out, which would work to your long-term betterment. Anyhow, it won't deplete my energies.

I was saying the exact same thing about that timeout. I was more worried about giving them time to score than I was about us having time to score again. In that moment, I was more in the "playing not to lose" mindset than a "win the game" mindset. But Beamer made the right call with that timeout.

I also have to give the coaches some credit for calling the shovel pass to Sanders at the end. That was a genius play call. I was sure we would go conservative and run the ball up the middle, playing for the field goal. But that play was relatively safe while also being aggressive enough to give us a chance to win the game.

Shovel pass was a great call because it's so uncharacteristic for us. One man's ineptitude gave rise to another man's heroism, well, several men's heroism.

The opening drive of the second half started out great and I think going for the 4th down was the right call there. Sad that the drive fizzled out and we even faced 4th, but had we converted that single 4th down... I think the game would have turned into a rout with no turning back.
