As good as Mullen is or will be, he is not the guy. If Jeremy Foley hires him, then he has flat out FAILED.
Florida hasn't got the luxury of waiting on the next great head coach to develop. They have just been unseated as the kings of the SEC, a position they feel is their birthright, by a very powerful force in Tuscaloosa. They need to win now. Hiring Mullen would not put them in an instant competitive position like Stoops would.
Unfortunately, the list behind Stoops is short and you could get to Mullen's name pretty quickly.
Even though Foley has hired up and comers for his baseball and (almost) basketball (See Grant) I don't think he can afford to make the same waiting game in Football.
Mullen should get a nice raise out of this, though.</p>
