With the way things ended last year and losing two good freshmen to the portal, I was figuring on a struggle this season. Even the portal pickups seemed underwhelming.

But this was an impressive start. Memphis is probably pretty bad, but a team that can put up 64 points in a half and get 61 rebounds has got something going on.

Be nice if this Okot is an undiscovered diamond. She's definitely got size as does the team as a whole.

And they did this with Jordan, our best player, having a terrible game. 2 points. That won't happen again.

My son met Purcell & spent some time with him.

"Dad I see why the ladies love him. After spending some time with him, I'd run through a wall for him. He's the most positive person I've ever met."

Good for the Lady Dawgs. I hope they make a deep run.

This group's got some personality. I'm hopeful he's put together a nice combination of talented role players who can gel into a good team.

Eniya Russell, in the middle, was a 5 star McDonald's AA who started at South Carolina, then Kentucky. She's played a lot of basketball, but never been front and center. Had 26 tonight.

So what’s the lowdown on why those two left? I know he loved Mjericle (?) so that broke my heart for him when I heard she left. I had no idea until this fall that she was even gone. Who else left?

He is killing it on recruiting HS players.

Good to see our WBB team is getting good recruits.

Why isn't South Carolina on this list, I wonder?

I would think that South Carolina has some good recruits lined up. Dawn Staley is still their coach, and they had a pretty good year in '23-'24 (38-0, NCAA Champs).

Okot isn't T physically on defense but she's better than we've had otherwise.

Okot could cause some problems in the post. She actually seems more coordinated than McCowan did and seems to have more stamina.
I want to see her against a somewhat comparable 5. I know not every team has someone her size so she can dominate on the glass against them but putting her up against another big will be the key.

I think one of the keys to this season is Powe. She improved last year and is a real threat from 3, but also has size and can rebound and defend.

If she can have a big year and step forward as a team leader and dependable go to down the stretch of big games, it'll be a huge help.

In this crazy transfer era, you need a couple of program players like her and Jerk to keep some kind of culture intact.

I have no idea on the why. The other was Jasmine Brown Hagger (I'm not checking spelling).

Shepard is at LSU and Hagger at Illinois. Both better teams than us right now, so maybe they wanted more possibilities after the meltdown.

Neither has played much early for those teams.

Maybe the fighting staleys are focused on transfers more than getting high schoolers
