No--but there aren't any mountains there either. And IU's in Bloomington. New Castle is on I-70 on the way to Indianapolis.

Then you deal with the wind. When I was in graduate school at UIUC, I got blown constantly in the winter. Unreal.

Count your championship trophies over the last decade. Penn State was a power in tbe 80' and 90's. This year, you were just a cool story. Nothing more. Clemson has an easier/better path to titles, Nicer weather, family, house on lake Keowee or Hartwell, and pretty good pay raise. Also Dabo is regarded as one of the best head coaches in the cou try to work for. A win for Tom Allen and the Tigers! Playoff bound 2025!!!
Not really true anymore with 12 team playoff. Also you have the current trajectories of the teams backwards I think.

I would love to hear the scuttlebutt on the Allen move. It doesn't make any sense.
@Marshall2323
If it hasn't been mentioned yet, the other day i read a brief insertion in one of the Allen articles.
His daughters are located in the Carolinas, his wife was a little ticked that Allen grabed the job at PSU so soon after being fired, without looking further south.

I’m still curious why Dabo is still coaching.
When they start paying players, count me out.
I believe that’s what he said 3-4 years ago.

Money talks. Plus, what could Dabo do other than coach? Becoming a talking head, that’s the definition of a job where you make no difference. Working with young adults who believe in you and are willing to put in the work and respect, wow, that’s a job where you can make a difference. Maybe he loves being a coach and sees the writing on the wall, sees that you gotta play the game. He’s not a pos. It’s my impression that he has a similar rapport with his players that CJF has for the PSU players. If CJF had a bad relationship with his players they wouldn’t be coming back.

Late in my career I was offered a non-teaching position that would have meant more money right then and also down the road. My wife, immediately upon hearing of the offer: “You’d be miserable.” Glad I stuck to teaching. I worked with some fine people, this is an enduring blessing and comfort.

I have nothing against the man at all. But, he was outspoken about paying players when it was an obvious situation that was going to happen.
Was at a banquet for HS FB players fall of ‘23. Marcus Freeman was the speaker and was asked about portal and NIL. While not happy with it, we have to deal with it it’s here to stay.
Better answer

Edit - to your most recent post. I interviewed for principal positions until I realized in administration I don’t have the direct contact with students that I enjoyed.

Clemson past few years:
Playoff appearances7 (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2024)
Playoff record6–5 (.545)
Claimed national titles3 (1981, 2016, 2018)
National finalist4 (2015, 2016, 2018, 2019)
And no doubt they were being as shady behind the scenes as the SEC schools. Clemson was known to have bag men while Dabo makes sure he had layers of separation and wallked around going good holly miss holly. No one buys his act except those slurping the orange koolade.

Dabo is qualified for this and working for his wife’s daddy. Or a preacher who desperately needs you to buy him a private jet because Jesus demands it. He’s a fraud.

Maybe it was about money which Clemson seems to be paying him a bunch more

It all happened pretty quickly, but I wonder if Franklin tried to get more money to keep Allen. It might not have mattered with that family-in-the-south horse-a$$.

There was little to no effort to keep Allen. Remember when they had to put him up in the booth, because King couldn't understand him on the headset? Franklin had to ask him to stop blowing his damn whistle so much at practice . LOL
I don't think it was a full blown personality conflict. Let's say it was a "cultural" mismatch.

I am not familiar with these incidents. That said, I had noticed Allen in the press box, while Diaz and Pry were on the sideline. I figured that was just personal preference.
