I can't see Iowa State's Campbell making that move.

Nebraska fans are still unrealistically believing the glory days will return.

Texas and Oklahoma leaving the Big 12 improves Iowa State's chances.

USC coming into the Big 10 makes the Nebraska gig even more difficult.

Wonder how the childrens hospital is in Omaha. Remember, BOB claimed that was a major factor in heading to Houston. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Bill will continue his slide into irrelevance. He’d be a lot better off winning a Natty at Alabama and waiting another year for a better job to open.

For a guy who reportedly hated the nuances of college coaching, Nebraska is a huge uphill rebuild job on every level.
agree- plus their fanbase is deluded

Looking at the last few years of this list:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nebraska_Cornhuskers_football_seasons

It's startling to see that even under Mike Riley, Nebraska achieved 9-4 and went to a bowl. Since Riley's third year, they have struggled big time.

They really screwed the pooch by hiring Bill Callahan. Bo Pelini actually had them on a decent trajectory or plateau and they were going 9-4 or 10-4 which looks a heck of a lot better than anything they've done in the past 5 years. Scott Frost has been a huge disappointment for them. Riley may have left the cupboard bare but Frost did nothing to improve the team.

I agree, Nebraska risks becoming the B1G West's Rutgers if they're not careful. They might be able to find Iowa-esque success but I doubt they will challenge for a division title - especially with USC joining the B1G.

Reading some posts on the Nebby site it sounds like some author could write a crazy book about the Nebraska program under Frost. All allegedly (of course)- late to practices, no showing at scheduled events, drinking and alleged extracurricular events with some bad influence friends, players threatening to quit, and assistant coaches going to the AD saying Frost was MIA as a leader and the AD needed to intervene. It sounds like a lot of this was well known by many in Lincoln but they won’t speak about it publicly.

Well what's the point of becoming a head football coach if you can't enjoy the perks?

I think Brian Harsin would be a good choice at Nebraska. He had success at Boise, not exactly a recruiting hotbed, much like Lincoln. IMO the next coach at Nebraska needs to be someone who can navigate the recruiting challenges they face there. IMO they should not waste their time on guys like O/Brien or Rhule. If either of them ended up at Nebraska, does anyone really think they would stay long term? Campbell would be a good choice but why would he leave ISU for Nebraska? That is not even a lateral move IMO. I do not see NU having a lot of high profile choices so it will be important to identify someone who will be the right fit. I wonder what Fuentes is doing now (former VT HC)?

Rumor mill afire with Neon Deion coaching the Huskers next.... :ROFLMAO: If Alberts is smart he waits until the end of the season to see who is available from college and the NFL then make his decision.
He would have let Frost go at the end of last season.

Rhule makes sense, given his reclamation project success at Baylor and Temple. He recruits well, and probably would be OK with the grind it would take to get high end players to Lincoln. He also has enough gravitas and accomplishment that he'll get some decent honeymoon time with the boosters, to right the program, get his players, and turn it around. Plus Rhule-Ball is risk averse, boring, impose your-will-on-the-D ball control type stuff; the Nebraska faithful will love that ****.

BOB would be a bad fit. He hates recruiting, and IMHO doesn't have the patience to sell Lincoln to players, nor deal at all with the delusional boosters and overall fanbase.

Amazing what OB has been able to cash in on with a 15-9 record at Penn State.
