It is funny. I don’t think of you all as clowns but I won’t argue if you say you the fan base is. It’s your fan base. You know them better than I do.

What ‘s the phrase?. “Don’t be so sensitive it’s just a joke.”

Ok let's meet halfway. I'll pretend to chuckle, but you have to actually be funny.

Compromise makes the world go 'round.

That is the complete opposite of what was said on Pat McAffee Show when the news broke. They reported that he signed a 2 year deal with the Steelers to be the starting QB. Daboll also wanted him in NY. The Giants would have been the better pick based on Daboll connection and a Josh Allen similar offense. He would have been signed as the backup to Jones. Trubisky will be the starting QB even if he has to compete with Rudolph. The Mason jar is that bad.
XM guys said it is a tiered contract. If he is the starter, he gets paid well. If he is the backup, he gets much less. Also, I’m not sure Giants were the better option. Hasn’t their continued OL failures cost Barkley and Jones their careers so far? Why would Trubisky want to play in that dumpster fire?

Here's your center.

I’ve never heard of this guy but I hope he can play. I assume if he can, Green will move to G. I’d still draft OL if able. And if the Iowa C falls to them at 20, I’d be fine with them taking him despite this signing.

Apparently he started 51 games for Michigan tying the most games played at the school. Some at T then moved to C. Started for AZ as a rookie C and was traded before his 4th year to the Vikes where he got injured last season. It'll be interesting to see if Green can make the move to G as he's undersized at 6' 2" 315.

It's weird to see the Steelers with some cap space. But it's either that or a real QB, you can't have both. Well you can for a rookie deal if you're lucky and you sucked.

This QB was perfect because he only costs cap space.

Of all the possibilities this off-season, this is the one I thought made the most sense. Rodgers was never going anywhere, a trade for Wilson would have required giving up too much and they need much more. Wentz is a head case. Pass on anyone available in the draft, and wait a year or two to draft the next franchise QB.

The Steelers are in a good cap position, so if they can focus their attention on a few other key FA signings and fill some gaps via the draft, they could actually build something around Trubisky.
Exactly. And if Mitch sucks, grab a QB next year in the draft. If he doesn’t, then you have two draft classes to build around him.
This is the correct move, IMO.

Here's your guard. Now they need help at S, ILB, DL (although Adams re-signed), and 2 WR through FA or draft.

There’s no major downside to this move. If Trubisky is productive, then the Steelers have options going forward. If he’s not, then the Steelers continue their rebuild post-Ben. $14.5 million over two years is easy to manage from a cap perspective - esp next year.

As an aside, both Cole and Daniels were at one time B1G centers. Cole from UM where he played C/OT and Daniels from Iowa where he played C but moved to G with the Bears. Some film:

Me thinks the Steelers might be drafting a QB at 20. Looks like they have taken care of the OL....JMO..

Barring any more splash free agent signings, I wouldn't write off a WR (only Johnson and Claypool are under contract) or safety as the pick but I have a feeling it's going to be an ILB. The depth was so bad at the position they had Marcus Allen playing there during the playoff game last season. With that said, I think Brisker would be fantastic playing with Minkah.

How about a pass rusher? Isn't Tuitt done?

Don't like the contract details on Trubisky - too much for a backup qb. Trubisky = Haskins with better wheels. Neither are starting caliber NFL qbs. Mason has actually shown flashes of being a starter and has more upside. I fully expect him to win the job.

Yea they've done a nice job at taking care of the OL but I'd rather they not draft a QB. I just don't think there is anyone that good and I still think they have more pressing needs.
One of the draft guys on NFL network said the best QB in this year's draft would be the 6th best in last year's draft. 🤷‍♂️

Wonder if they are done in the FA market. Probably not. Anyone add up the cost of the 3 recent FA signings together with the OT retaining contract to see how much cap space they have left?

Would be nice if they could still sign Smith Schuster for 3 more years. He really does make the tough catches, the kind that win game when they are on the line in the 4th quarter. They could then still draft another WR. I'm hoping Washington is done in Pittsburgh, as he has about 2 highlights in a season.

It still wouldn't surprise me to see the Steelers take an OT in the first round if there is one they believe is an All Pro 10 year player available. But the key signings sure do allow them to execute their "best player available" strategy more so than what it looked like a week ago.......

Mason got pulled for Duck Hodges (who now rides the bench in the CFL) when Ben went down and it was Mason's time to prove his worth.

If you want to talk about a backup QB getting paid too much, let's look at Kirk Cousins, who's starting record is worse than Trubiskys.

"Cousins has a career record of 59-59-2 and a record of 33-29-1 over the past four seasons with the Vikings. The Pro-Bowl quarterback will make $35 million fully guaranteed next season."

I'm looking at Mason vs. the current Steelers competition and I don't see any of them beating him out.
Rudolph, like Ben, is square peg round hole in Canada's offense. Remember this when Canada was the QB coach and Mason was the starter? This was when Canada was helping the OC Fichtner game plan.

If we learned anything from Matthew Stafford's it's that some QB are clearly better than their team's records when he was playing. A very good QB can have a pretty sorry record playing for a sorry franchise/team.

Cousins has won playoff games.
