Looks like their free agent frenzy may have come to an end.

I think they should draft the top RB available with their first pick. Isn’t that what the giants showed us as the best path to a rebuild?
Well that was a quick segue from “Rick has lost his mind” to “Rick made a funny!”

I love this move. Still only 26 years old.

Wow. The Steelers are killing it in the FA market and for us Steeler fan's thats very, very rare.
Some guy named Zierlein on the NFL Network had his mock draft, 3.0....has the Steelers taking Pickett at 17 after a trade with Chargers. All these FA's has me wondering what they will do with the first pick. Brisker? Dotson? Still would not mind them taking another OL guy....Do not want Pickett.

Oh man I hope not. Its not that I don't like Pickett but he isn't worth a first round pick, frankly I didnt' think any of the QB's are.

Agreed...Especially after Schefter said that if Trubisky was in this years draft he would be the 1st QB taken. So in a sense the Steelers did get a QB in the first round.

The only holes they didn't fill via free agency so far have been at strong safety to replace Edmunds and WR to replace Juju and Washington. They also need help on an old DL and can use a backup OLB as Watt tends to miss time with injuries. Extra secondary help wouldn't hurt as well.

Looks like the Steelers have finally came to their senses and realize that all the QBs in this year's draft class are useless stiffs.
That may be true but as UNC season ticket holder who watched Trubisky I have to admit this isn't going to work for the Steelers. Mitch is good at times but in the NFL you have to put the team on your shoulders some times and make plays when the run game isn't clicking or your defense is giving up too many points. Mitch has talent but not Josh Allen talent and I honestly think some GMs think Trubisky will become that guy. I don't see it. And if you reply he will be serviceable, think about that for a second -- he hasn't played a down for the Steelers and we want him to be a game manager. Not exactly inspiring. I'm a Steelers fan too so I really hope he can exceed my expectations.

He only played one season at UNC, correct?

I sincerely had no idea who Zach Banner was before he was cut this week.
They first used him as a TE in the jumbo package. The fans would go nuts when he was announced as eligible. The was supposed to start at OT last season but got hurt and replaced by Chuks.

He left early. He had one big year in 2016 after playing parts of his first two seasons. Carolina had a dynamic starter at QB in Marquise Williams who was an all-time UNC great in 2014 and 2015.

I guess we'll see how he does. Rooney said he wants to get back to a pound the ball style offense. I'm not sure that's in Canada's wheelhouse. Not much to lose though.

I agree with what you say. I was just trying to point out that this year's draft has no decent QBs. Not a one will ever be an NFL starter, let alone a Josh Allen level QB. They all suck. The Steelers are stocking up with decent position players but will go into next season with a sub-par QB.

Trubisky is coming into a really good situation and I have a feeling he’ll rise to the occasion.

Trubisky had a chance to wait and see how the market unfolded — the New York Giants reportedly were interested in signing him — but he didn’t see the point.

“This is definitely where I wanted to be,” Trubisky said Thursday after signing his contract.

Trubisky, who will wear No. 10 with the Steelers, signed a prove-it deal that includes a $5 million signing bonus, is worth $14 million and can increase to $27 million if he reaches all of his incentives. For that to happen, he must first win the starting job in a competition with incumbents Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins.

Coming off a season in which he attempted just eight passes and sat behind Josh Allen in Buffalo, Trubisky believes he landed in the ideal place to resurrect his once promising career.

“Going through free agency with my agent, we went through all the options to see where would be a great fit for me,” Trubisky said. “When we found out Pittsburgh had interest, I said this is where I wanted to be. … It happened very quickly, we jumped on it, and I’m happy to be here.

He could be good enough. The man’s got a new lease on life. He’ll come prepared, intent on becoming Pittsburgh’s long-term solution at quarterback, proving everyone wrong.

Sounds like optimism. McAndrew Board, Stillers. I don’t get it.
