Can this be substantiated? In other words, is there a recording or video of him saying this to his assistants? During this iPhone era where every fart is recorded or videotaped I find it odd that someone didn’t set him up.

Several friends who are Florida Gator fans would love him back at Gainesville.
Do those fans want Aaron Hernandez back to if they can win??

Yep. Requires kissing the butts of teenagers and their parents.
How about kissing the butts of pros that have been pampered their entire lives? Or trying to tell pros something, when they already think they know more than you simply because they have a larger paycheck than you, the lowly coach?

This is purely my opinion, but why in the world would any top coach want to coach in the NFL? There’s plenty of $ in the college ranks, and you don’t have to deal with as many prima donnas in the college game. I believe that college coaches have much more autonomy in running their programs too. Look at Joe Paterno, he understood the advantages of college coaching v. pro coaching.
For every Barkley you probably get 10 Barnhams.

I mean to be fair, did people really think Urban was going to lead them to the PO right off the bat? They have a rookie QB, Marvin Jones is their best Receiver, and James Robinson has fumble issues. They pretty much need a total overhaul and It will probably take 3-45 years for them to even be a contender for the Playoffs.

Not sure why he tried the NFL, especially with Jacksonville, but he is still the 2nd most successful cfb coach of the past few decades.

No idea what's going on with him now but I wouldn't be shocked if he's looking for a way out of the NFL and into one of the open college gigs. If Chip Kelly returns to Oregon, I see Urbs as a realistic possibility at UCLA.
You never know, but I doubt it. Why? Because the UCLA administration would not tolerate the kind of stuff that Urbs pulled at Florida and tOSU, and the recruiting would be substantially more difficult. Urbs wants to win and he will look for a place that maximizes his chances of doing so.

This tool tried treating grown professional men as if they were college kids on scholarship. Didn’t fly. Men weren’t putting up with that nonsense. Unfortunately, he will be hired somewhere else or end up on ESPN.

A sample of Urby’s refined motivation techniques. What a putz.

Urbs quite the man to physically kick a kicker. If he really wanted to prove he was the alpha male of the team, he should have kicked an offensive lineman and tell them to block better. Urbs move was like beating up the younger brother of the class nerd instead of the schoolyard bully.

I think Meyer is being criticized a little too much. I think he’s a great guy. Hell, he helped little Sharrif Floyd get adopted by a nice family a few years ago out of the kindness of his heart.

Oklahoma desperate enough?
Not yet. Texas crumbled under Sark this year, but they have a fantastic recruiting class and Evers portaled in. It all depends on what Sark does with the talent.

No idea what the new guy at OU can do, but I think they give him a chance.

Besides, Urbs needs a couple of years for this to not be an issue anymore.

Meyer is a bit of an opportunist. He walked into 2 college programs that were already loaded with talent and was able to recruit a few more upper echelon players for the icing on the cake, resulting in some of the most talented teams in CFB. He was able to get some of the talent because of his reputation of having top notch squads.

In the fall of 2011 he had 2 schools on his radar screen, OSU and PSU. When visiting the campus early in the fall of 2011, his first concern was how much talent there would be on the team should he take over in 2012. As discussed a long time ago on the McAndrew board, I had an inside source who worked for UF football and this information was volunteered to me over lunch in Gainesville. This was after UM had met with some people at PSU. That is why I still believe Joe was planning to retire because of his underlying medical condition and a replacement plan was already in motion behind the scenes. Joe was not given the chance to retire after the season to be used as a scapegoat in JS happenings. As soon as Meyer knew that there could be a mass exodus of players and sanctions placed on PSU he bolted and signed a deal with O$U. Meyer is not a builder of programs, he is a take over and improve an already successful program type of guy.

So to me as soon as I saw he was taking over an NFL team that was low on talent and he would not be dealing with college players, but professionals, he was doomed to fail. I predicted before the season began he wouldn’t last a full season and I was right. I guess UF didn’t wait long enough to hire a HC because I’m sure Meyer would have taken the job in a heartbeat.

I knew this was going to happen, I would still take him at PSU over Mr. Saturday if given the chance.

Is he sitting there under the stadium eating pizza? When Lawrence opened his mouth yesterday, he was toast. I’m not sure I see him coaching again to be honest. He has to be a bit radioactive. Forget all the nonsense, you know what stood out most to me? I saw a pic of him with the whistle in his mouth. You really think you can do that nonsense with NFL players and they will respond to you when you blow your whistle? The guy ain’t right.

Some people want to be the best on the biggest stage and as much as we think of Penn State and college football in the football world the NFL is the biggest stage.

Urbie found out quick that in the NFL he ain't the smartest man in the room! I would have loved to see what would have happened had he kicked an O-Lineman!

Honestly he's probably has such a boner right now to get back in college coaching since it's basically a free for all regarding rules and coaches are getting MLB type contracts. His ego won't let him lay low very long.

Greg Schiano ran into the same issues at Tampa Bay. Coming from a college environment where he basically dealt with teenagers and young adults the transition to a professional team where you are dealing with multimillionaires in their mid to late 20's is very very difficult. I also believe that Urban recognized early on that Jacksonville was a monumental challenge and I'm not so sure he wanted to put in the work to get them over the top.

Help me with Bowling Green and Utah before that …

They were smart to do this now. I still think Lawrence is going to be an outstanding QB, so no need for them to continue stunting his growth with a coach who is WAY out of his league.
