They were smart to do this now. I still think Lawrence is going to be an outstanding QB, so no need for them to continue stunting his growth with a coach who is WAY out of his league.
The next hire needs to be a guy with demonstrated skills in working with QB. I’d hire an offensive guy as opposed to a DC guy. It’s 1000% about the QB. You better have a situation like Green Bay where coach and QB are on the same page. You don’t move forward unless Lawrence becomes the player you expect him and hope him to be.

Can't see him returning to a TV gig in the meantime while he's got this fresh on his reputation resume. I think some school will come calling after some time passes and he's been out of the news for a little while.

I honestly think this speaks to his hubris. Dude was used to being THE big man on campus. The second he wasn't, he started acting like a.... yeah. Finally caught up to him.

This is purely my opinion, but why in the world would any top coach want to coach in the NFL? There’s plenty of $ in the college ranks, and you don’t have to deal with as many prima donnas in the college game. I believe that college coaches have much more autonomy in running their programs too. Look at Joe Paterno, he understood the advantages of college coaching v. pro coaching.
Because college is 24/7/365 and the pros are not.

Something tells me he is radioactive now, with scandal and failure, so even a college or ESPN won’t touch him.

no work hours are the same or worse in the pros. the pros dont have to recruit is the reason to be a pro coach.
I agree. If you don’t like to recruit, then college coaching is certainly not for a person. And there has to be a lot of pressure to recruit well.

He is getting roasted as a fraud and phony on First Take right now. I hope to post the segment soon. It was burn the house down shizz. Finebaum called him a dirtbag.
I would think someone like Doug Pederson before BOB. He'll bring a better vibe and at least played well with one QB (Foles).

I guess it would force the Cowboys but I’d call their OC. I do believe that it would mean the Cowboys fire McCarthy to not lose him so you probably strike out there. I’d then call McDaniel or maybe I’d start with him before calling Dallas.

Which is why OB wasn’t a good fit. Which made me like him.

I am a HUGE riddick fan. He proves it is okay to be serious in your job at ESPN when most of the people are totally unserious bloviating idiots.
I like him too. Think he's very good in studio but not so much on MNF but then I also don't like 3 people in the booth, especially when one of them is Steve Levy.:ROFLMAO:

Leftwich seems like a logical match.

Him and Bieniemy looked to be flavors of the day but I was wondering why neither got a job last time. I assume Arians is there until TB 12 retires which makes Leftwich in good standing to follow him. I guess you could say same with KC timing but both would seem to jump if the opportunity came earlier. Lincoln Riley to me was the most interesting.

Urbs daughter, this is war, my daddy is the bestest
If Urban has one ounce of intelligence (doubtful at best), he should tell his family to stay off social media. That isn’t going to end well. The person in the family most upset has to be the wife who now has to put up with him being around the house. She better start working on her lap dance moves.

Do you guys think that it is true that he actually, physically touched a player? If that is true...end of discussion. That crosses a line that you never come back from, he should never be around coaching or reporting again.

Help me with Bowling Green and Utah before that …
Well, I am not sure I am in agreement with that poster, but to answer your question, as a younger coach, Urbie didn't have the luxury of picking and choosing. As he became wildly successful, he was able to be a bit more selective in his next job. So, UF and OSU make sense after BG and Utah.

My point was that he did well at every stop, not just tailor-made, turnkey situations.
