Not necessarily, 2016 we were clicking at the end of the season, won the B1G ship and were left out due to the bad sPitt loss earlier in the year. To date no 2 loss team has ever made it to the CFP.

Considering PSU's 2024 schedule, finishing 13th might be overachieving.
True, like March Madness where 63 of the top 64 teams end with a loss.
Guess we should hope we're matched with Tulane.
My point is IF we're in the playoffs, 2 losses or not, starting next year we will lose our last game for as long as James is the HC. 2016 is not in the equation and we weren't in the playoffs that year. If we're not in the playoffs my statement is moot. Do you realize 12 teams make the playoffs next year?

Exactly. If James makes it out of the first round in any year we're in the playoffs, he's NEVER beating an elite team after that. Maybe we should hope for 9-3 record every year, go to the Mashed Potato Bowl held in Idaho where we could beat up on Tulane, as you say, or UMass and thus end the season on a winning note. False enthusiasm would reign throughout Happy Valley at least until James goes for it again on fourth and six from our own thirty with four minutes left in the game.
A & M isn't running a $195mm p.a. operating deficit....and that's in current dollars.

They should hire him. He was rumored to be replacing Coach Paterno before the events of 2011. He was friends with Paterno. I think he'd understand the way PSU wants to get it done and he'd get it done.
