Has anyone seen any chatter about whether USC and UCLA will get a full revenue share from day 1 or if they will gradually ramp up like Nebraska, Rutgers and Maryland did in the recent expansions?

both sides (USC & UCLA, and the B1G) have been remarkably muted about the details about USC & UCLA joining the B1G.

They probably are not in favor of the extra revenue UCLA would receive (TIC).

What is the hit (if any) to Cal though? Both part of the same system; not sure how the money works, but does UCLA give back to the UC system? Is UCLA’s gain to the detriment to Cal? Not sure it matters but interesting…

According to The Football Scoop, whoever that is, the SEC has decided against any further expansion for now, and Notre Dame has also decided to remain independent through the duration of their NBC contract and perhaps beyond depending upon the design of the expanded playoff system which might be at large ( ND ) friendly. Also they stated that even though Oregon and Washington would love to join the Big10, The Big10 has no further expansion plans for now. In today’s TV market, Md and Rutgers to not add value the way USC and UCLA do, but Wash and Oregon do not.

At the very least, there would be some decreased payments until they “buy in” for their share of the equity of the BTN.

^^^ Before any of you go crazy over this, realize that it's from The Onion. ^^^

Ahem, everyone laughed when Myron Rolle chose them too. The reality is The™ Onion is one of the most credible news sources in America today.

The larger question is - why is Yale no longer an Ivy? Which conference did they join? If a school was going to leave, I'd have guessed it would be Cornell.

Sooooooo…… bidding war?
Would be nice for some potential amounts per school to leak out as a tactic to see if it moves any big schools outside of B1G to reach out. Would be nice for B1G to say, oh wait what you going to pay if xxxxxxx is in B1G.

Exactly what I was thinking. Self-licking ice cream cone. More $ means more big-name suitors, means better product, means more $, means more big-name suitors……. Round and round we go.

Look, at this point I think we all understand super conferences are happening. If that’s the case, I want to have the biggest, baddest super conference there is.

So 15% more by adding 14% more teams? Cha-ching!
The other thing is could this bump enable quicker expansion because the overall pot is bigger than planned?

I originally thought that further expansion couldn’t happen until another TV rights deal came around. Existing members only stand to lose $ outside of that scenario.

But a 15% bump might entice ND to act sooner at the annual payout figures being tossed around.

10 losing seasons in the last 20 years. Are they expecting that to improve in the Big 10 West? Perhaps with the right hires anything is possible, but their regular season schedule is at least going to be 10% tougher.

ND is waiting on the next Big 10 and SEC pay outs. They aren't going to want to be independent for $75 million (like you, i don't see NBC giving them this) when the other 2 conferences are giving out $95 million per team...are they?
