If you know where this is, go towards Greenville County and I grew up right about where the new subdivision Watkins Farm is there at the Greenville County Line......or Sugar Tit on Riedville Road.
Did you go to Byrnes, too?

if you're ever in the area take a ride through Fairmont....leave Duncan down Hwy 290 towards Moore....the red light before you get to Reidville Rd and Publix is where you turn....there is an Ingles on the right.....take a left at that red light and you have entered FairmontI'm not sure...I typically don't come down Hwy 14 much anymore. From my home in TN, I get off on HWY 25 at the Hendersonville exit...go to HWY 11 in SC and go to Greer via Dark Corner, Lake Cunningham then on over to the airport where my folks live. I have a cousin who lives about 2 miles from Tooter Town off Gap Creek Rd. If I'm down this week, I'll make it a point to drive by Tooter Town and take a pic and post it.
I know exactly where Watkin's Farm is.If you know where this is, go towards Greenville County and I grew up right about where the new subdivision Watkins Farm is there at the Greenville County Line.

I grew up in Taylor's and some in travelers Rest, but mostly in Taylors.I know exactly where Watkin's Farm is.
No....went to Greer...grew up in Woodland Forest.
Definitely know where Cannon's is. You don't grow up in Greer without knowing. One dollar hot dogs on Tuesdays.....think they are $1,50 now.....with mustard chili, slaw and onion.I grew up in Taylor's and some in travelers Rest, but mostly in Taylors.
Most My friends went to Greer or Riverside. I Graduated HS in 86.
Spent way to much time playing ball or fishing at Cannons, if you remember where that is.
Lot of Gamecocks in Pickens County. There were quite a few classmates from Pickens High, Daniel High, and certainly Seneca, West-Oak, Tamassee-Salem, & Walhalla in Oconee County. I've mentioned 100 times my roommate at Carolina went to West-Oak.I thought Pickens County was outlawed?
I went with my family to a fishing hole somewhere in Greer but it was back towards Jug Factory Rd. I can't remember the name to save my life. My grandma like to go Cane Pole fishing there. (Not Lyman Lake).Definitely know where Cannon's is. You don't grow up in Greer without knowing. One dollar hot dogs on Tuesdays.....think they are $1,50 now.....with mustard chili, slaw and onion.
I've been to Fairmont...it's Byrnes School District that has a Spartanburg address. Not sure why they don't send those kids to Dorman.if you're ever in the area take a ride through Fairmont....leave Duncan down Hwy 290 towards Moore....the red light before you get to Reidville Rd and Publix is where you turn....there is an Ingles on the right.....take a left at that red light and you have entered Fairmont

My sister used to work at Tab's Dairy Bar off Wade Hampton back when she was in high school. Had cousins who worked at Tab's up off Hwy 14 near Little Chicago. Tab's had good hot dogs.
When I think of Cannon's I think of Cannon's restaurant which also had good hot dogs. Did they own the restaurant and the fishing hole? The one spot to eat that was really good years ago was the Tadpole Fish Camp. Are they going to open it back up?
My go to place when I'm home, is "Select" in downtown Greer. It's pricey but I love the place. We typically don't go to Spartanburg or Greenville due to traffic, we stick around Greer.
Also, had lot of family members work at Hoechst Celanese going out towards the Old Riverside HS...
My family's peach farm was in Little Chicago. My grandparents had over a 100 acres of orchards and a packing shed back in the 40's, 50's & 60's. It was always safe. It was mostly farming families. Yes there was chicken fighting but heck it was all over Northern Greenville & Spartanburg counties. Not sure where that fishing hole is.
Used to go to Tab's all the time....never had a better peanut butter milkshake. Litt;e Chicago area used to not be very safe.
Grew up working at Taylor's Peach Shed and then Jones Bros. Canning Company.
Lots of great memories from then. .
Think there was one part of Little Chicago that could be dangerous....was around an old store/bar something. A clsoe friend's dad who was not a very good guy used to go up there and take his son, left his son in the truck with a pistol and told him to shoot anyone who came near. Scared my firend to death. My family's peach farm was in Little Chicago. My grandparents had over a 100 acres of orchards and a packing shed back in the 40's, 50's & 60's. It was always safe. My grandmother sold a big portion of her land to the Mann's from Florida who called themselves Sunward Farms. Funny thing, my best friend from high school who went to JL Mann drove up to Little Chicago with me to work in the packing shed with me and my siblings and cousins. That's what we did during the summers.
Did you know the Robinson's from Greer whose packing shed was there at I85 and 101? I went to school with the families that sold land to BMW. They were wealthy to begin with but became super-wealthy after that.
I also went to Byrnes with the Brockman's who owned land all over HWY 101 from Greer to Woodruff. They also owned the Brockman Auto Dealership on Motor Mile off Laurens Rd. Did you know any of the Brockman's?
I know the Brockman’s and have since the late 60’s. My dad was Principal at Reidville Elementary and Mrs. Brockman was the Dietitian. School lunches there were outstanding. My family's peach farm was in Little Chicago. My grandparents had over a 100 acres of orchards and a packing shed back in the 40's, 50's & 60's. nooo Fairmont is Rebels....we dont like Dorman......of course when I was a kid living there Dorman was across town in Spartanburg where the Walmart is now....no need to change even tho they built that nice fancy school close byI've been to Fairmont...it's Byrnes School District that has a Spartanburg address. Not sure why they don't send those kids to Dorman.
I was out shopping at the Food Lion on Lady's Island last evening (the construction on the new Harris Teeter is coming along nicely). As I was finishing up, I texted a cousin who lives in the Northwest Quadrant that I was going to stop by her house to drop off something on the way back to my place. I stopped short of texting "I'm on my way back into town."Yes. What was mass migration of northerners coming to Hilton Head and Bluffton has now pivoted to my little hometown. Unfortunately, word of its charm has gotten out.
And that’s interesting that your granddaughter is a kindergarten teacher. I also work for our school district here in Beaufort.

Another sign of the population increase. In the late '70s prior to contraction of the McTeer bridge directly connecting Port Royal to Lady's Island, I heard about about a high school acquaintance who got into trouble with his father for "driving out of town." The crime was driving over the Woods bridge from downtown Beaufort to Lady's Island. <SIGH>.
Pickens County. Been through it a few times.Anyone familiar with Liberty, SC. I almost lived there back in the 1960s.
.....or Sugar Tit on Riedville Road.
Thanks. That's awesome. Never knew the history of it as much as i hve been through it.History

Did you go to Walhalla High?
Some of you football historians, did we not have a punter/place kicker from Walhalla? No I just been through there enough to know it’s beautiful part of the state. Also only other Razorbacks I know besides Arkansas.
It's 3 minutes from the BMW plant. There's a raceway there too...Sugar Tit gets my vote and I've never been there! To the town.
I would have to say, “ The ‘Wood”! Grew up in Greenwood and play golf every weekend to this day!Mine is Travelers Rest. My shadow self would say Pickens. My mom would say Beaufort.

A very depressed town in a very forlorn county. It virtually died with the advent of I-95.Allendale should be at the bottom of the list.
Are not Greenwood HS the Emeralds?I would have to say, “ The ‘Wood”! Grew up in Greenwood and play golf every weekend to this day!
