Perhaps. But why not just apply tariffs to China and tell the rest of the world 'you have 90s days to figure out how to balance out trade with he US or you will be tariffed like I just did to China'?

That accomplishes the same thing you are claiming he was trying to accomplish here.

Further, if dozens of countries had already come to him to bend the knee, then why give them more time to hammer out new agreements? They are already at the negotiation table per Trump.
Why delay it?
Trump has negotiated the same way since day 1.

demand the universe, settle for less and both sides get to say they won.

You don’t have to like It but it works.

I didn't claim he was trying to do anything. It was just my thoughts. Nobody knows what he's thinking but him. That's what makes the people that don't like us walk a little softer. Fine with me. I don't know what country, if any, has come to the table before or after they were implemented. Regardless of when they came to the table, if they're at the table at all, that's an improvement. I'm no expert on international trade, but I think renegotiating a trade treaty is something that takes some time.

I don’t give a $h1t about upsetting the billionaire class.

but it’s a fact they pay the overwhelming majority of taxes in this country. FACT.

they also invest a ton of money. Investment drives growth.

I don’t want zero taxes. But the government has plenty of 17ing money right now. They need less and they need to be more efficient.

I can prove that. If even $1 goes to something like DEI overseas or trans oversees, it’s $1 too much. I could make that argument for in the country as well.

how about EBT? I’m not saying it’s not NEEDED but it should be a NEED. Cokes, chips, sweets, etc aren’t needs.

we could be so much more transparent about where the money goes for a small tiny snout of money but they don’t want transparency bc if they had it, they’d look like crooks BOTH SIDES.
I'm aware of who pays the taxes in this country. What do you call a billionaire after a tax increase? A billionaire. They'll continue to invest and innovate like they always have and have more money than you or I could ever imagine having.

Trim the fat. Eliminate waste and fraud. Nothing wrong with that. Any entity has an Obligation to chase down that stuff but we're lying if we think it's our biggest issue. Your big money savings is in SS/MC/Defense if we want to make real deficit improvements from the spend side. You have to find savings there and if you aren't trying then you aren't taking deficits seriously.

Let's battle it out. I heard America used to be great. We used to have much higher top tax rates too. Let's get more money out of those with the cushion and start trimming social safety net payments and military spending. Everyone is pitching in. We will find our priorities and non-negotiables much faster that way rather than two parties fighting over which side to manage but never actually attempting either. Basically - we've been duped by showmen preying on human emotions and have no intent in solving real problems.

That’s exactly why he backed down, and make no mistake, he backed down. It didn’t hurt that he and his buddies probably made a TON of money the last few days.
To elaborate, treasury bonds and the stock market tanking at the same time is almost unheard of. That’s Depression type stuff. That’s Dollar decoupling type stuff. It scared the hell out of people that matter. Trump may be ignorant, but he might just not be as pig headed or as sure of himself as I thought. That is at least somewhat encouraging.

When you've had this kind of firsthand experience with their 17ery, you'll never have sympathy for them again. Hammer their asses.
That’s all well and good, but remember they aren’t a bunch of penguins terrified of a tariff. They have a huge military and their economy is nearly as big as ours. Bullying them probably ain’t gonna work, especially since they watched what happened today. If they thought do something that wold tank their economy was to their advantage, they wouldn’t hesitate to do it at all. They don’t have to worry about elections, public opinion, or protesters. It’s the big advantage, AND disadvantage, of their terrible system.

We don’t need more money!! You said it already!

im all for trimming what you said but until you start showing the American people there is fraud and waste it’s gonna be hard to push congress to do what you say. I agree with you but congress people like to get re-elected more than they like doing the right thing.

so unfortunately we have to start small and go slow in that regards. I’d love for them to whack it all. THEY WONT.

So either do nothing or do what trump is doing and make it all very public to get people to push for elected officials who will do something about it.

OR we could yell orange man bad and lie about all the things he isn’t doing but say he did. Like cutting welfare and SS unconstitutionally.

or putting kids in cages (wait that was Obama).

blah blah blah

you could argue tanking the market was part of the negotiation and not necessarily a terrible thing. Market corrections are good especially when its so inflated.
So ruining peoples lives and businesses is not a bad thing is it? Let me ask you something, do you sign payroll checks on the back or on the front?

I would imagine it comes down to what he thought he could get away with without congress. Did you see how people lost their mind over USAID?
SOME of USAID needed to go. MOST of it was an essential part of American soft power. It was NOT done out of some touchy feely liberal BS. It was a cold eyed American power play. China is more than happy to replace it. The sheer strategic ignorance in basically cutting it ALL is astonishing. It might be THE dumbest move in an absolute basket full of dumb moves Trump has made so far. I’m not some dewy eyed liberal. I was chanting “FOUR MORE YEARS!” when Jessie Jackson made a campaign stop at the Union for Mondale. I am and always will be a PROUD Reagan Republican.

I didn’t say Biden was the only person responsible. But I didn’t hear some of these libs hammering him on it.

sorry I’m not gonna listen to them whine after 90 days of trump when’s he’s trying to actually do something that is good for America.
I've heard enough of all of this "at least he's trying to do something" horseshit, to say nothing of the fact that nobody in authority has been able to consistently explain exactly what it is he's "trying to do".
