In actuality, this is going to be worst case scenario. Not bad enough to obviously fire with no perception hits, but definitely never going to be good enough again. So Polk 2, duh. Better buckle up, going to be a rocky few months I’m guessing the baseball coaching situation is going to go about like the football defensive coordinator situation.

But I do wonder if we have found a rotation?

Worst case scenario is winning some games? I have a different view of worst case scenario.

For him to even sniff a chance at returning (for me anyway) he would need to have us Hosting a Regional OR, going on the road as a 2 or 3 seed and win that Regional to get to the Supers.
Anything less and I think it’s past time to show him the door.

You can forget option A. We’d have to go something like 15-3 the rest of conference play. That would be tough for a great team, and we’re not that.
As for making the tournament, we’re not completely dead in the water. That feels insane after the worst sec start in school history, but we’ve only got to go maybe 11-7 or better. We still have series against the nos. 15 and 16 teams in the conference, so if we happen to sweep one of them you even have a little breathing room.

I’ll feel a lot better if we can get 2 next weekend.

he's gonna do just enough to make a road regional which will buy another year. I

If Ligon continues like he did today, we're win some series.

I'm so torn. I like it when our team wins. I love Hines' new hitting approach.

But, I also want Lemonis gone. If he gets us to Omaha, I'm okay keeping him. But If he just barely makes a regional, I don't want to keep spinning our wheels in terrible baseball.

I wouldn’t read too much into taking 2 of 3 at home from one of the 2 worst teams in the league. But we do get the other one at hime too.

Alabama is 17-4 at home so I'm going with another sweep for next weekend. This is going to be a long spring. If we get swept at home by Ole Miss that will be salt in the wound.

I know this is frowned upon among fans, but I'm waiting to see how the season plays out. It might sound strange, but I actually want my team to win games and make the postseason. Your coach winning enough games to keep his job is preferable to the expense and uncertainty of a coaching change.

I think winning 1 would be expected. If they could do the unexpected and win the series this weekend, I could get interested again. They put themselves in this huge hole. I'd love to see some more fight like these last two games

SC is not in a good place right now. We took their pitching coach and then their head coach got fired. To make matters bad, they basically hired a glorified interim coach in Manieri, who may end up sticking around for awhile.

Beating them at this time is not much of an accomplishment.

Throughout my life as a State fan there have been opportunities to hope we lose to ensure a coach is canned. Stansbury, Croom, Rick Ray, Lemonis. Maybe others, I don’t know. I can’t bring myself to do it. Even when it makes sense logically.
I want the team to right the ship. I want to make the postseason. Losing sucks. I want to care, I want the games to matter.
And I will still think it’s time to part ways with Lemonis if we sneak in, because sneaking in isn’t good enough. But we won’t fire him if he makes the tournament, because Selmon can justify saving the money.

I want what's best for the program long term. If that's Chris Lemonis, that's great. But I've seen nothing in 3-1/2 years to tell me that's what's best for the program.

We suck and Lemonis needs to go. Only reason to keep him around until the end of the season is because it is almost over and the buy out might be less.

I have never hated Chris Lemonis but little happened this weekend to change my opinion that this should be his last season at State. Taking 2-3 from a 1-8 team at home does not move the needle much. Ask again in 3 weeks and we will see but still very little chance we will host and that should be then minimum requirement for Lem to keep his job barring a miracle run on the road in post season.

I think most of us would like the team to right the ship, but I just don't see it. One series win against a bad team doesn't change that. I don't see them winning every series from here on out.

I predicted 2 of 3 series win...

This was the weekend that an 0-3 got him fired. I think hes probably here now, regardless.

That said I expect more wins. Its very possible to get 4-5 wins in the next 3 weekends... so i dont foresee him being removed... and then the decison will loom at seasons end.

If he misses a super, just fire him and move on. But I doubt we'll ask boosters to pay for a big buyout. Unless he misses postseason, he's back IMO. Even then it's questionable probably.

Imagine that. Ninja went out and hired a guy who immediately turned the program into a competitive force? I was unaware that ADs can manage to do that.

Agree with this. All that was accomplished this weekend was to keep an immediate dismissal at bay. Still a long way to go and a short time to get there to save his job.
