Who's at the top of your list to replace Beamer?

I think Beamer is the right man as far as being a head coach goes. He has the energy, drive, and passion for recruiting you need. He just needs to hire a better OL coach (Teasley can recruit but I question is ability to develop) and get some more playmakers (we have some, but not enough in the offensive side of the ball). Look at Dabo…he looked like the best coach in America, but it was Deshaun and Trevor that made him look good. Without an elite QB, they are average or maybe just a hair above average. We all forget that Spurrier had some very head scratching years just before we won double digit games 3 years in a row and it was truly because of the talent influx on at once. All I am saying is bringing in another HC and starting from scratch is not the answer as much as I want us to be better yesterday

"He has the energy, drive, and passion for recruiting you need" -- We hear about Beamer's recruiting prowess, but when will we start to see results? His overall recruiting results have not been markedly different than our historical norm. We currently sit at 14th in the league.

As far as Teasley, I said on this forum last season that Beamer was staking his career as a head coach on the decision to retain Teasley. I know we had injuries, but we essentially made no progress on the OL from Week 1 to Week 12. I don't care what other factors there are, when you coach up one of the worst units in all of college football, you need to go.

I agree, it took Spurrier 6 years here to see real results, but he was mixing in interesting wins along the way over UT, UF and UGA to tease some of the success to come. Also, we didn't have any losing seasons, which was novel for us for that long of a stretch. Through 3 years, Beamer has the anomalous UT and Clemson wins to show us. Last year was ugly on numerous fronts.

Surely, you can understand how, on the heels of last year's failure, coming out of the gate and looking thoroughly inept offensively against ODU, fans might be agitated.

Can’t disagree with this but be prepared to feel the same way in 3-4 years with a new coach, esp since most on here think we can’t get a big name coach

After reading some of this thread, I'm thankful that I pay to be on the better forum. Lord. Yall are sad people.
You must be one of the newbie sunshine pumpers from 4 years ago. I still swear there was a paid contigent on here designed to promote a false, positive spin around Beamer's "abilities". Reminds me greatly of what I'm seeing in a national presidential race currently.

What he didn't and doesn't have is the coaching talent, resume and/or proof that he had the ability to effectively do this job. How many of our fans out there would be good with hiring a person to CEO their multi-million dollar business without that person ever having managed a crew of 10-12 within any company before getting that job? If that seems like a ludicrous situation - that's exactly what USC did and many fans signed off on. Backing stupidity isn't a virtue.
Also- i can't believe we have some of our own still attempting to compare Shane Beamer to D. Swinney. Nobody in this world dislikes DS more than i do....but facts are facts and no matter what is involved when you accomplish high level of success and prove yourself, you proved you are legit. Shane Beamer should've gone to ODU or somewhere to learn how to ride the rollercoaster of being a HC. You can't throw novices and never have done it guys into the SEC end of the swimming pool.

That's how we got our AD.

Why is this even a thread? These days coaches need WELL more than 3-4 seasons to build a program. I fully believe that he could be our first life coach.

Love the optimism and I am pulling it to play out that way.
I'm looking for some indications that Beamer is making progress and deserves ''WELL more than 3-4 seasons''.
If there is anything Gamecock football needs, its stability.

I don't necessarily agree that a coach needs WELL more than 3-4 seasons.

I'd argue a coach needs 4 minimum, barring the wheels coming off. And 5 seasons seems plenty of time to me.

So you don't believe in this era of the plug and play player that that didn't speed up the process of building your program and fielding the type of team you intended sooner?

Those who have been paying attention know that I have advocated, and will continue to advocate, signing Beamer for life right now, irrespective of record. The proviso would be that anything above base salary for a coming year would be tied to achievement the season just past. This position isn't derived from any belief that he is a generational coach. I would just like for SC to own the distinction of being the first major school to eschew the coaching merry-go-round.

His dad's first six years at VT would get most coaches fired. Different times? Yes. Patience is not a characteristic in great supply anymore with much of anything. Shane has out preformed. It would have taken a absolute collapse for him the be deserving of termination this year.

Understatement for sure.
Something to build on has been established.

His daddy finally won. I say keep the son for life whether he wins consistently or not. Coach with tenure, like a professor.
