What I love about this thread is all the hidden Misogyny in it. People can't just help themselves. The same people who hate the NBA also hate the fact they help the WNBA, where does it stop. ![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)

No they couldn’t, stop being uninformed. Why don't they just fold the WNBA into the NBA and have co-ed teams? Some of those girls could probably outplay some of the guys making millions like Ben Simmons.
You used a word incorrectly. No big deal but please try harder. Go Cocks!weak troll, try harder.
No they couldn’t, stop being uninformed.
That is ridiculous, where on here does anybody say anything about hating women, where does anybody even hint at that? What I love about this thread is all the hidden Misogyny in it. People can't just help themselves. The same people who hate the NBA also hate the fact they help the WNBA, where does it stop.![]()
I had to look it up, I'm not sure if that makes me a "hidden" hater of women or just clueless. What does misogyny mean?
A woman in the wnba RIGHT NOW, could not make A KANSAS/Duke/ unc rosterI thought he sarcastic.
I'd be curious if a single woman could make the rosters if that merger took place.
We have had the most dominant WBB program in the country over the past six years. It has been populated with great athletes, homegrown heroes, and marvelous role models. It has been coached by a woman revered in basketball circles, who was elected by her peers to carry the flag in the Olympics representing our nation. What I love about this thread is all the hidden Misogyny in it. I watched about 3 minutes.
I do watch our women play though. The only reason there is a WNBA is because the NBA pays for it. Then the women players demand equal pay for equal work. It’s ridiculous.
There's enough people out there who want the WNBA such that the MNBA subsidizing it creates sufficient good will for all involved. That's fine, if they want to present the WNBA as basically a charity. But they don't. It's presented as a serious sports league, which it is no. If it were, it would not still, after 2 decades, have to be heavily subsidized by the NBA just to remain afloat. It's kind of like previous iterations of spring football. Nobody wanted it and the leagues went belly-up. Clearly, nobody wants the WNBA and it should have gone belly-up a very long time ago, but it's a PC thing by the NBA to keep it going.
Probably could make the women's roster of said schools.....A woman in the nba RIGHT NOW, could not make A KANSAS/Duke/ unc roster
You said dawn is a woman???? Tell me what a woman is, and how do you know Dawn identifies as such? Sounds like you do a lot of assuming there TobyWe have had the most dominant WBB program in the country over the past six years. It has been populated with great athletes, homegrown heroes, and marvelous role models. It has been coached by a woman revered in basketball circles, who was elected by her peers to carry the flag in the Olympics representing our nation.
It is something every Gamecock should take pride in and yet....... there is a constant faction on this board who seek to denigrate women’s athletic achievements, especially in basketball.
They are continually antagonistic to our WBB program. I have no answer for the source of this animus. Just that I find it odd that Gamecocks raised in a society that proclaims to honor women belittle those who bring athletic glory to our university.
But nobody, aside from the players and coaches, would be all that upset if they pulled the plug tomorrow. There's enough people out there who want the WNBA such that the MNBA subsidizing it creates sufficient good will for all involved.
Stopped on this reply. Hopefully as I continue you didn’t get flamed. It’s a great analogy and it made me spit up my drink.Yeah, I'm not into car racing at all, but it seems like it would be asking people watch a version of NASCAR where the cars only went 65 miles an hour.
What we call that is …..game/set/match.
I agree. I’d watch equestrian if we were in n the mix. I mean it’s my fightin roosters I’d watch chess If a Gamecock were in it for the big prize. Just sayin.Spoken like a true Gamecock. Passively cheering on even those Gamecock sports of which you have no interest (no sarcasm - I earnestly mean this).![]()
You’re spot on with the comment it gives little girls an opportunity. Completely agree. The point of the WNBA is to give little girls an opportunity to play a sport that they love for a living when they grow up. It does not have to always be about the money. It is like some of you'll get offended by the WNBA existence. The good will that it brings outweighs the money loss to a billion-dollar business. I hope it is around for another 25 years.
Your concession is acceptedWhat we call that is …..game/set/match.
I would not be upset if the MNBA plug were pulled tomorrow. Nor the WNBA. But that's just me.But nobody, aside from the players and coaches, would be all that upset if they pulled the plug tomorrow.
I would not be upset if the MNBA plug were pulled tomorrow. Nor the WNBA. But that's just me.
But to me, the elephant in the room is WHY? Why doesn’t the WNBA make money? I was in high school when it launched and ESPN2 was all over it. It’s not a lack of marketing.
They are all misogynistI guess there are not very many true feminists.
I guess there are not very many true feminists.
One of the posters before claimed there was a bunch of misogyny because of all the hate for the wnba. You said they weren't true feminist, and I said because of the misoginy.Huh?

It's a blanket statement like how all conservatives are nazis. It used by idiots that cant think criticallyI assure you it's not misogyny on my part. I'm equally critical of professional spring football.
You cannot claim to love basketball AND enjoy the WNBA. You may watch it and claim to enjoy it because you feel some more obligation, but you cannot enjoy it for the basketball.I love people who claim to not care about something always have so much to say about it. I personally love basketball. The NBA, WNBA, NCAA men and women.
