That's completely absurd. Msu is setting record enrollment and no one in Mississippi is interested....spare me!! How about we call out the lazy and worthless recruitment efforts at Mississippi state?!Apparently none of the kids in Mississippi are interested in State. Or very few. If you follow recruiting you will realize that real quick
Feel free to make a list of 4 star signings in recent years. When is the last time we signed a 4 star DL from Mississippi? RB ? WR ?That's completely absurd. Nope. Not significantly anyway.I know that no one knows but if we direct 100% of our NIL to football would we even be in the top ten in the SEC? Would it even move the needle?
The answer to our football problem is right there under our noses.Didn’t Leach win 6-8 a year with a 9 win season ? He seems to be purposely omitted.
We are M-&tate. Sports do not matter. *******This is going to piss off a lot of fans but it’s going to happen. The break down of REV share will look like this for all P4 teams
22/25MM
Football. 17MM
MBB. 4-5 MM
The rest spread out over all other non rev sports.
It’s time we understand that baseball does zero for us and time to invest in sports that matter.
Well we signed two 4 star WR in 24 Burnside and Harrell. Signed OL Jimothy Lewis. In 25 class we signed Taylor Willis and Lockhart. All instate 4⭐️Feel free to make a list of 4 star signings in recent years. When is the last time we signed a 4 star DL from Mississippi? RB ? WR ?
No but in reality that's where we're headed more or less if super conferences are formed. If football improved drastically?
Let's say State football gets back to where it was under Mullen (6 to 8 wins a year with an occasional 9-10 win season), would you be okay if the rest of the sports were consistently at or near the bottom. And if those teams (MBB, WBB, baseball, etc) luck up and have a decent season, they're immediately poached.
I'm talking cutting NIL for all sports to funnel into football. Would you be cool with that?
You are saying 6-8 wins and 9-10 wins like that is awesome, but Leach recently went 9-4 and was roundly hated and smeared by this fan base and local media. If football improved drastically?

This is the funny part. We already are and have been a farm team. The haves take whatever coach (and now with the portal, player) they want from us whenever they want them. If you aren't a cynic, just cheer for State for a minute. Are we not a farm team in most sports? How many athletes with good years at State who are recruited by other schools do we keep from transferring? I think we kept Dakota last year. Anyone else?
We have to have a commitment from the top of the AD down to the fans that we are going to be as different as possible. We literally need to be the most unique program in college football. And whatever 'idea' we choose, needs to be bigger than just one coach.
this is going to rile up the hate Lemonis cult ...of all of the MSU coaches, Lemonis has done the best at retaining the draftable players he has recruited and each year has brought in key pieces several draft picks out of the portal.......DeBrule, Ledbetter, Yeager, Stephen, JP FranceAre we not a farm team in most sports? Obviously some of you hate Clay Travis, which I get. He can be tiresome. But I just wanted to put this here because he's discussing Florida's success as an athletic program this century and he doesn't even mention that they won a baseball national title in 2017. It's completely ignored. And it's not like he doesn't care about baseball, he openly cheers for the current champs. But this is why some of us hate our emphasis on baseball. It's an afterthought. It literally does not matter in the scheme of things.
Could be Air Raid, could be Triple Option......it could be some modern variation of either, could be Jackie's strategy - all athletes on defense, build up 2 strings of huge OL, and just run downhill with a big RB and a high school CB playing QB. You could go even further with the NIL......basically let it be known that our rev share is for existing players only.......high school and transfer portal don't get any. Make a commitment to recruit hungry ball players. Get innovative in the weight room. Develop a true culture that lasts. What are you thinking here, Goat? Would love to hear your thoughts on how to be the most unique program in college football.
lemonis has missed a lot and been average at best in the portal. its easy to say he's brought in pieces... but every SEC school brings in pieces b/c the SEC is the mountain top. He continues to whiff on the big names that are in the portal.. the difference makers... he's always come up short in that regard.this is going to rile up the hate Lemonis cult ...of all of the MSU coaches, Lemonis has done the best at retaining the draftable players he has recruited and each year has brought in key pieces several draft picks out of the portal.......DeBrule, Ledbetter, Yeager, Stephen, JP France
Burnside flips to safety and where is Harrell ? Williams signed with OM originally out of high school. True we got Lewis and Lockhart. Kamario Taylor huge surprise. Thanks to Omarr. We dont have a history of signing the best players in Mississippi.Well we signed two 4 star WR in 24 Burnside and Harrell. Signed OL Jimothy Lewis. In 25 class we signed Taylor Willis and Lockhart. All instate 4⭐️
we have Williams a four star WR we added from the 23 class.
I think some of you all just want to be negative without facts
People like you are too short-sighted to understand that it's not all about the monetary payoff. There is school pride, tradition, not to mention that DNF is a big recruiting tool for us.Because baseball isn’t a major sport. People love it here but it’s a non rev sport. Most of the sec gets it but we hold into baseball like it’s the holy grail. It means zero
The ultimate problem with your scenario is that it isn’t even possible…..as you’ve freely acknowledged with your “Sun Belt” remarks above. Even if we let basketball and baseball rot, football still wouldn’t be competitive at the level you suggest. The money isn’t there. Barring what would be a cataclysmic reversion back to the old status quo that takes pay for play and open transfers completely off the table, MSU is absolutely straight up done being relevant in football ever again. My scenario at least acknowledges reality and basically recruits and spends at Sun Belt level, freeing up more money for football.
At State we have no advantages over other SEC schools, other than the fact that Dudy-Noble exists. We could stop pretending we can be an "all-around" athletic program, cut budgets on the major non-football sports and get rid of the budget drains like track and field and mens golf. Yeah, it would suck, but maybe State could get into the top half of the league in football spending.
Cool that will get zero. Glad this isn’t the way our Administration thinksPeople like you are too short-sighted to understand that it's not all about the monetary payoff. There is school pride, tradition, not to mention that DNF is a big recruiting tool for us.

Oh I know they don’t. And look where that’s gotten us.Cool that will get zero. Glad this isn’t the way our Administration thinks
We don’t know yet. We just started cutting back on baseball. FB is in the middle of a rebuild and recruiting has picked up tremendously. New hires on defense and offense line have helped. Basketball has been to 3 NCAAs. I’m confident FB is going to be a lot better this year.Oh I know they don’t. And look where that’s gotten us.
So no to his dumb question?Suck a d!ck
