The state of Louisiana is often one of the most talent rich in the country, and high-level prospects continue to emerge for the 2024 recruiting cycle.

In Monday’s update to the On3 Top 300, six Louisiana recruits landed on the list – including two new additions.

Here’s the rundown on where things stand as the spring evaluation period rolls on.

Louisiana’s On3 Top 300 recruits in 2024

No. 1: Dominick McKinley – DT … Acadiana High

On3 Ranking: 4-star, No. 3 DL, No. 14 overall

On3 RPM: LSU (93%)

With the latest updates to the On3 rankings, Acadiana High’s star stayed put at No. 14 overall. McKinley landed Class 5A All-State Honorable Mention honors after a strong junior season. He finished the year with 86 tackles, 10 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, two interceptions and a touchdown against some of the state’s top competition. He has offers from LSU, Alabama, Texas and others. McKinley is ranked as the No. 18 recruit in the country and the nation’s No. 4 defensive lineman.

No. 2: Wardell Mack – CB … John Ehret High

On3 Ranking: 4-star, No. 4 CB, No. 28 overall

On3 RPM: LSU (98%)

Mack stayed inside the Top 30 of the national rankings and remains one of the top five cornerbacks in America. The John Ehret two-way standout is the state’s most electric skill player, shining on both offense and defense. LSU and Alabama are two of the teams out front for the Louisiana native, but the Tigers have held the On3 RPM lead for most of his recruitment.

No. 3: Trey’Dez Green – TE … East Feliciana High

On3 Ranking: 4-star, No. 6 TE, No. 113 overall

On3 RPM: LSU (99%)

Green moved up three spots in the overall rankings to check in as the No. 113 recruit in the 2024 cycle. At 6-foot-5.5, 225 pounds, Green has college offers for both football and basketball. As a junior this past fall, he reeled in 42 catches for 864 yards and 14 touchdowns. LSU is the leader on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, though Green has yet to narrow his list of double-digit offers. Still, some feel Green could be one of the next names to pop in Louisiana.

No. 4: Joel Rogers – S … West Feliciana

On3 Ranking: 4-star, No. 18 S, No. 186 overall

On3 RPM: LSU (78%)

Rogers plays both quarterback and defensive back at West Feliciana, but On3 National Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power has seen enough to project Rogers as a Top 20 safety nationally. “He’s a high school quarterback who makes a lot of plays with his mobility,” Power said. “We were also impressed with his physicality and striking power on defense. He’s a natural on that side of the ball.” Rogers has offers from Alabama, Oklahoma and plenty of out-of-state teams, but the Tigers are making him a big priority in Louisiana.

No. 5: Dashawn McBryde – S … Denham Springs High

On3 Ranking: 4-star, No. 19 S, No. 194 overall

On3 RPM: LSU (100%)

LSU made the move to offer McBryde a verbal scholarhsip in March, and the Tigers quickly trended on the On3 RPM as the team to beat. The local standout at Denham Springs is one of the best defensive back prospects in the country, and he totaled 46 tackles, four tackles for loss, nine interceptions, nine pass breakups, four forced fumbles and two touchdowns on defense as a junior this past season. It was enough to earn All-State honors and set the program’s single-season interception record.

*****

No. 6: Tylen Singleton – LB … Many High

On3 Ranking: 4-star, No. 3 DL, No. 14 overall

On3 RPM: LSU (86%)

Singleton moved back into the Top 300 as the On3 staff shuffled up the linebacker rankings. The Many High standout has been a key piece to the program’s defense in recent seasons. After winning a state title in December, the junior turned his focus to recruiting – and he’s got more than 20 college offers under his belt. Singleton is ranked as a Top 25 linebacker in the country. TCU, Arkansas, Texas A&M and Tennessee are some of the teams also in the mix here as LSU works to fend off competition and keep Singleton in Louisiana for college.

No. 7: Ju’Juan Johnson – CB … Lafayette Christian Academy

On3 Ranking: 4-star, No. 31 CB

Committed to Colorado

Johnson gave his commitment to Colorado head coach Deion Sanders following his junior season, but he was recently back on LSU’s campus for a visit as he continues to weigh his options. Johnson was a star at quarterback for LCA this past season, but his future at the college level is likely at cornerback. Johnson might not have landed in the latest update to the On3 Top 300, but he remains a four-star prospect.

*****

No. 8: Koby Young – WR … Holy Cross

On3 Ranking: 3-star, No. 67 WR

On3 RPM: LSU (99%)

Young stayed put as Louisiana’s top-ranked wide receiver prospect following his junior season, and offers are already in from LSU, Alabama and others. In 11 games this past season, Young caught 41 passes for 667 yards and four touchdowns. He’s currently ranked as the No. 67 wide receiver prospect in the country. The question is, will there be other risers that catch Young or will he finish out as the state’s top-ranked wideout?

*****

No. 9: Kolaj Cobbins – LB … Destrehan High

On3 Ranking: 3-star, No. 61 LB

Committed to LSU

Cobbins shut down his recruitment in early-March and committed to play for LSU over offers from teams like Alabama, Georgia, Texas and more. It’s another big win for the Tigers out of Destrehan, and Cobbins helped the program win a state title with his play as a JACK linebacker this past season. At 6-foot-2.5, 205 pounds, Cobbins could rise into the Top 300 with another strong season this fall. It’s worth noting he also is being recruited to LSU as a linebacker who could play in the middle or as a standup edge rusher.

No. 10: Ahmad Breaux – DL … Ruston High

On3 Ranking: 3-star, No. 55 DL

Committed to LSU

Breaux was one of the key pieces to a talented Ruston High defense that faced off against Destrehan for a state title in December. At 6-foot-2.5, 250 pounds, Breaux played on both the edge and interior this past season, and he was disruptive against both the run and pass. The Tigers didn’t play the waiting game and made the offer to Breaux this offseason, and he flipped his commitment from Duke to LSU within the week.
