NC State Newsstand: Mady Traoré commits to the Wolfpack
Hours before a busy recruiting weekend for NC State football began, the men’s basketball program picked up a big-time recruit of its own when three-star, class of 2022 power forward Mady Traoré announced he is joining the Wolfpack. He will be the 12th scholarship athlete on the roster this season, finalizing the NC State squad headed into next year.
Here’s more from The Wolfpacker’s story ‘Mady Traoré announces his commitment to NC State.’
The 6-11, 195 pound French big man committed to NC State over offers from Kansas, Auburn, Oregon and others. On3’s Jamie Shaw considers Traoré a high-potential prospect with plenty of room to grow.

“Mady Traoré is a long, 6-10/6-11 forward who moves really well for a guy his size,” Shaw told The Wolfpacker. “There is still a raw nature to his game and the game will have to slow down for him, but he runs very well, and is a good quick-twitch athlete. Watching him play, you see the skill set. He has smooth shooting form and can put on the floor for a couple of dribbles in the open court. He will need to add weight and continue improving, but his physical profile makes him a solid gamble as a late addition.”
Traoré’s most recent offer was from Arkansas State in May and, according to the On3 Database, he visited Auburn last fall. The big man has some shooting touch as well. He played for the Georgia Stars AAU team this summer.
The newest member of the Wolfpack recruiting class is a three-star prospect according to the On3 Consensus Ranking. He’s also the No. 252 prospect in the 2022 class and the No. 51 power forward.
Prior to his commitment, there was speculation that the 12th and final scholarship on the NC State roster could remain open going into the fall. That is no longer the case. Traore joins three-star guard Liron Thomas in the 2022 class, and the two will look to carve out a role on the team amongst a team filled with newcomers.
