NC State’s men’s basketball roster appears complete for the 2023-2024 season after the program welcomed six transfers to the team. Most recently, the Wolfpack landed a commitment from Michael O’Connell— a 6-2 point guard who started 28 games for Stanford last year.
With the roster seemingly full at 12 scholarship athletes, NC State holds the No. 8 transfer class in the country. The program added Butter guard Jayden Taylor, Arizona State guard DJ Horne, Missouri big man Mohamed Diarra, Kansas wing MJ Rice, Clemson big man Ben Middlebrooks and O’Connell this offseason.
Wake Forest is the only ACC program ahead of the Pack on On3’s transfer portal class rankings, sitting at No. 3 after replacing 3 transfers with an average player rating of 62.33 with a trio of athletes who hold a player ranking of 90.67.
The Wolfpack’s incoming transfers average out to an 84.50 ranking, but that number is skewed considering Diarra has not been ranked yet. NC State also lost five outgoing transfers— Jack Clark, Greg Gantt, Ebenezer Dowuona, Dusan Mahorcic and Isaiah Miranda. Clemson, who landed a commitment from Clark earlier this spring, is the next ACC team in the rankings at no. 14.

NC State quote of the day
This quote is from Drew Miller, the No. 1 punter in the 2024 class who is heavily considering the Wolfpack, talking about special teams coordinator Todd Goebbel.
“He’s a person-first type of guy,” Miller said. “He’ll put me first before football… He always takes interest in my personal life, not just how I’m doing with football, and I really appreciate that.”
