The first and second preseason AP All-American teams were revealed on Monday and the preseason honors continue to roll in for a few USC Trojans. Once again the focus is on the offense.

Wide receiver Jordan Addison and offensive guard Andrew Vorhees were both named to the first team.

Huge things are expected from Addison this season. He’s coming off a year where he won the Biletnikoff Award as the nation’s best wide receiver. As a sophomore at Pitt, he caught 100 passes for 1,593 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also rushed seven times for 56 yards and another score. Addison also became a major weapon as a punt returner, averaging 15.4 yards on 12 returns.

It will be tough for one offensive player to dominate touches in this USC offense, considering there as so many weapons at receiver and running back. But Addison took no time to make an impact and impress his Trojan teammates.

Linebacker Shane Lee had one of the more humorous comments during Pac-12 media day, when he interrupted quarterback Caleb Williams when Williams was asked his impression of Addison’s abilities.

“Great,” Lee deadpanned to laughs. Williams filled in the rest

“Yeah, he’s been pretty good,” the Trojan quarterback said. “He’s very explosive, really good body control. He’s probably one of the fastest on our team, too. I can’t want to see him on game day when all the adrenaline is going and he gets the ball in his hands. Just to see what he can do.”

During fall camp, it was about finding all the ways Addison could fit into this offense. When USC’s season opens against Rice on September 3, expectations for Addison (and the USC offense) are immense.

Another Preseason Honor for Vorhees

Andrew Vorhees joins Caleb Chandler of Louisville as the two offensive guards selected to the AP Preseason First Team.

Plenty of attention focused on the players USC added via the transfer portal this offseason. But Trojan fans shouldn’t lose sight of just how big it was that head coach Lincoln Riley was able to bring Vorhees back for another season in cardinal and gold.

That would have been a sizable hole to replace at left guard. Vorhees’ return gives the Trojans the potential to put returning starters at all five positions along the line. It also gives USC one of the best offensive linemen in the country to build around in Riley’s first year in charge of the offense.
