If i were Danny Green, I’d talk a lot too. Takes some of the focus off his on court performance and puts it instead onto what he’s saying. There will be addition by subtraction when he gets outta here.

1st half of Harden's 1st game with the Sixers was a joy to watch. He's a great passer, and yet if you don't guard him he'll drain 3s or drive to the basket (and either kick it out, score, or draw a foul). He's really causing matchup issues for the Timberwolves, and allowing other Sixers to get wide open looks.

Another interesting observation is that the other players really do seem to listen to Harden coming out of TOs. For a newbie to the team, he seems to have their respect.

The Sixers' D with the current lineup does concern me, and Millsap is not the quality back-up for Embiid that Drummond was. But the Sixers are totally outscoring the TWolves in the 1st half and the beginning of the 2nd half, so the early look at the results of the trade are very positive.

Embiid in a post-game interview saying he's not sure he's ever played in a game where he was open so much.

My comment: The Beard causes match-up issues for the opposing D, plus he's a great passer. The League will adjust, but what a great start for the new-look Sixers.

Harden and Embid seem to have great chemistry already. Harden as good of a passer as Simmons was and actually made some nice defensive plays.
Going to be fun to watch.
Harden is 80% Simmons’ passing and defense (rebounds mainly) with elite scoring skills that Simmons won’t ever have.

He’s older than Ben, but for right now, nobody will argue with where the Sixers landed. The Beard creates so much opportunity for the other Sixers that just wasn’t possible with Simmons out there.

Ok, fair assessment. I thought his defense was going to be non-existent, so I was happy to see the rebounding and some deft steals.
The team I watched yesterday seems to have much more potential that the team I watched lose to Atlanta in the playoffs.

Watching this game right now, I sure hope we pick up DeAndre Jordan from the waiver list. Millsap just doesn't have it. The Knicks are not afraid to go in the lane with Embiid resting.

I think he'd be a good backup for the Sixers. There are financial incentives for waiting to see if he clears the waiver wire, though they could lose him if they don't put in a claim.

Also, FWIW, I think Millsap was the least of the Sixers' issues in the 1st half. The Knicks, especially Barrett and Randle, were shooting lights out in that half.

Yeah, pay the 2.3 mil ! Of course it's not my money !! Another note, Maxey's confidence has gone sky high since Harden came on board. Love to see it!

The Sixers trailed by 7 at the half, and proceeded to outscore the Knicks 38-19 in the 3rd quarter, to take a 12 point lead into the 4th quarter.

George, Korkmaz,Shake, Greene, Matisse, and Harris are all a pretty good supporting cast. I agree that the only thing missing is a bigger body defensive center who can fill in better than Millsap. Tonight Tybull played well and Milton showed flashes in the first half. Trying to juggle all these guys and go with the hot hand is a coaching challenge. Harris has been disappointing and Korkmaz was invisible tonight, but he should benefit from open looks as well when he gets his minutes. Maxey has been the biggest beneficiary of the beard’s addition and he really makes you forget about Simmons entirely, especially from the foul line. Maxey looked like Hardin tonight draining a couple of step back threes. Fun to watch.

The problem now is the playoff roster deadline has past on 3/1, so even if they sign Jordan and he is serviceable he won't be eligible for playoffs, so kind of doesn't matter now as the playoffs are the only thing that matters for this group. Might as well play the guys who can be on the playoff roster.

On another note...Maxey is off the charts since the addition of James and I think a lot has to do with confidence James has been instilling in him since there first practice together along with Maxey not having as much pressure trying to run the offense, now that JH is here that is his job..and he is VERY GOOD at that job. Maxey can just have fun and score and he is looking to be very good at that so far.

Next week will show a lot as the Cavs, Heat and Bulls are all up on the schedule. Must watch TV for sure

Actually, the rule is that as long as they are waived by their current team by 11:59pm Tuesday, March 1st, they are eligible to play in the playoffs as long as they sign by 4/10/22. Therefore, Jordan is eligible for the playoffs. This should help.

Clap Your Hands, Everybody

Sixers over the Cavs, 125-119

Maxey with a hell of a game. Sixers were getting blown out in the 1st qtr, and trailed by a bunch at the half. A good 3rd qtr and a great 4th qtr by the Sixers.

What’s lost a bit so far is that the Sixers are no longer the team that seems only capable of winning at home. I suspect that the extra advantage of playing at home with Harden will resurface but their road success is most promising for an extended playoff run in a stacked Eastern conference.

Saw the score in the first quarter and thought the honeymoon with Harden was over but WOW!! I heard an announcer say last year that Maxey has talent and will be very good in the future but Ben Simmons was in his way. The Harden trade is looking like a master piece at this point. They have been fun to watch.
