I found #9 interesting, one would think he would have some trade value , teams need OL...

9. Maybe the Eagles will keep Isaac Seumalo this year, but you can make a pretty good case for releasing him. Seumalo is a decent guard but he’s going into Year 7 and has only been a full-time starter once, in 2019, and he’s missed most of the last two years with injuries.

And he’s already lost his left guard job to Landon Dickerson.

And he’s carrying an ungainly $7.668 million cap figure.

And the Eagles can save about $1.2 million in cap space by cutting him (or cut the dead money to $2 million in 2022 and $3.8 million in 2023 by making him a post-June 1 cut).

And you have guys like Jack Driscoll and Sua Opeta who can play right guard, who are just as good.

Why would you keep him?

not entirely Eagles related... I heard a report on Carson Wentz
1 hr into mini camp the reporter noted
-He is really tall
-He has a cannon for a right arm
-He just threw an interception

I'm not sure what the best move is with Seumalo. For a few years, there were reports that he would be Kelce's replacement whenever he retired. However, the Birds drafted Cam Jurgens this year to be Kelce's future replacement, so that takes away that option.

The fear with Dickerson was that he couldn't stay healthy in college, so how would he do so in the NFL. However, me made it through his rookie season as the starter at LG. There's something to be said for having Seumalo around as a backup at either LG or at C (Kelce got banged up last season, and it's dangerous to depend solely on a rookie as the prime backup). But they're paying him too much to be a backup.

Could he be the RG? He started there for 2 games in the 2016 season, but that's the extent of his starts at that position. I thought Driscoll took several steps forward last season. Opeta is still a question mark for me.

It will be interesting to see what the Birds decide to do with him.

I agree, Tom. OL depth is pure gold in the NFL...especially for a team considered to be poised to enter stronger contention. For a paltry $1.2 million in cap savings, you keep Ike on the roster. There's also no guarantee that Jurgens pans out. It wouldn't be the first time the team swung and missed on a prospect and won't be the last.

I dont disagree totally with this, but the NFL needs OL that can play. If a team is willing to trade for him, I would listen to any and all offers. We still have a 1st rd pick backing up someplace, he needs cross trained bad.

The other day on NFL radio Pat and Jim reviewed the NFC East OL all 4 teams. Pat puts a number grade on the group, 20 is the max
The Eagles got a 18. They think that will put them in the top 10 ,most likely top 5
Now they did see Ike starting a RG, which I don’t see , I like Driscoll better ,if healthy. They thought it might be good to start the rookie next to Kelce but I’d let me sit. They talked a lot about Jack Anderson pushing for a spot, but I had forgotten about him. I think they confused the two Jacks, Driscoll and Anderson. But an 18 is great!

Now on to a pet peeve....
Yesterday was the Detroit lions discussion. Lomas Brown was on, former player current announcer for the Lions . He thought Big V was their best OLman last year. I always thought Howie errored extending Ike and not Big V. If you extend Big V, and after starting the Super Bowl run, then you wouldn’t have wasted a 1 st rounder on Dillard, your OL would have been set. Yes Waltzing Matilda worked out, but really you couldnt have counted on that.

another on Jalen Hurts from Nick...

“I’m noticing a big difference,” Sirianni said to Sal Paolantonio of ESPN. “What I see is a crisper ball. The accuracy I’ve been very pleased with. You can just see him taking strides every single day with his accuracy because of the fundamentals he has with his feet and his upper body.”

The Eagles will be looking for the same kind of difference in Hurts’ play once they hit the field this fall and seeing it would be a big step toward a long run in Philadelphia for the quarterback.
