I agree with the Eagles, but the stats raise more questions than what they answer. The Eagles clearly think it was scheme. The stats answer your question. He was only on for 5 of 37 third downs in those games.

I don't view things completely from a worth being picked at #13 stance near as much as having a plan and running with it.I suspect that is part of the equation. Georgia had 2 DTs taken in the 1st round of the 2022 NFL draft. They also had Jalen Carter at DT, and in the way-too-early mock 2023 drafts, he's the top DT.
I think you also have to factor in that Georgia had 5 defensive players taken in the 1st round of the NFL.
I don't totally dismiss Eliot Shorr-Parks opinion, but he was against Davis being the Eagles 1st round pick before the draft, and has since indicated on the radio, in articles he's written, and in tweets that if Davis only plays 1st & 2nd downs, then Davis was not worth being picked at #13.
I'd also note that Fletcher Cox was not a great pass rusher in college, but became an excellent pass rusher at DT in the pros.
I follow you. I also hit post too early and didn’t mean to sound as abrupt as I probably did.I agree with the Eagles, but the stats raise more questions than what they answer.
Yes, good points Tom. I noticed that as well.I suspect that is part of the equation. Georgia had 2 DTs taken in the 1st round of the 2022 NFL draft. They also had Jalen Carter at DT, and in the way-too-early mock 2023 drafts, he's the top DT.

interesting take. I think the claim is a tad premature, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.
QB is definitely the key variable. Without that, there’s no window. If Hurts somehow works out, then they’re set to load up at DB with two first rounders next year.I think they’re a CB/S short right now. Next years draft looks to be pretty DB deep, so get 1 maybe 2 on the back end and I think you could have a wide open door starting next year
EDIT: depending on Hurts’s development. He takes the step this year, oh yeah it’s opening.
Yup and having the talent and depth they have on the OL gives them and him some time. Last face it we have a 1 st rounder running second team that would start for 25 other teams!!QB is definitely the key variable. Without that, there’s no window. Feels like kind of a crazy stat, but appears to be true.

I hope you are right! I will allow myself to be overly optimistic about the Eagles only from now until the opener. Then I'm endlessly pessimistic.Imagine what he could have accomplished if he somehow avoided the injury bug. Key contract year for Miles upcoming….to get the big bump next non rookie contract he needs to stay on the field. I am starting to warm up to this upcoming season being a nice run into the playoffs. Not quite a SB. Team….but headed in that direction. If Howie grabs a Safety and a Corner then I would change my thinking more towards a serious SB contender.
The challenge is going to be Hurts. If he performs, then a big extension is on the horizon. That will eat into what Philly can pay Sanders. It also feels like a big second deal for a RB is contrary to Howie’s philosophy.Imagine what he could have accomplished if he somehow avoided the injury bug. How did the big second contract for Zeke work out for them Cowboys? I just dont see paying any RB alot for a second contract. Heck some of their best backs of late have been retreads on 1-2 yr deals. The challenge is going to be Hurts. If he performs, then a big extension is on the horizon. I agree about Hurts needing to take it up a notch. He spent most of his off season with a top QB whisperer on the West Coast. Miles needing a solid year is just not for the Birds….if they will not pay him….he would easily glob onto another team for a nice pay day. IMO….there is always someone missing that RB piece that will over pay ….assuming Miles has a good….nagging injury free….season of course. The challenge is going to be Hurts.
