Refs weren’t joking around with time wasting. Shaw and Walker got them for throw ins. Then Shaw got sent off for a real second yellow. I don’t mind it as I hate the flop and stall game, but it has to be all officials carrying this out. You cannot pick and choose when to enforce this.

Former Chelsea manager Thomas Teuchel was just hired by Bayern one week ahead of their match with my Dortmund team. Dortmund has a one point lead over Bayern, and for those that don’t remember, Teuchel managed Dortmund from 2015-2017. Bayern sacked Nagelsmann when he came back from vacation on Friday after they lost and dropped into second place. I guess winning 71% of your matches and leading the team to its tenth straight title only gets you one and a half seasons at Bayern.

Is he injured? I noticed that he didn't play for Norway against Spain last week
He was, but I don't think it was super serious (groin) so the 2 weeks off probably helped. Rashford skipped the international competition as he took a hard tackle in his last EPL game.

Me in 2019: I like this English Premier League and how Liverpool plays. I think I’ll be a Liverpool fan.

I’m such an a$$hole. 😞

Man City needed this. They don’t always win but they always play like champions. (I just now found out the final result.)

First half was exciting, but not the best performance from City. Second half was a completely different story. They looked great.

4-1, final. Without Haaland.
I actually believe Haaland makes them a bit one-dimensional. However, they aren't punished for it because he's so damn good. That being said, today was the free-flowing City of recent years where movement on the ball is key and spaces began to really open up. They don't need that type of style with Haaland at the top. Just chuck it up there. Regardless, either way has been working pretty good this year.

Chelsea 0-1 Aston Villa, approaching halftime. They both had 38 points at kickoff, 10th and 11th place. Damn fine soccer.

West Ham-Southampton coming up at 9 this morning, USA Network. They sit 19 and 20, so it’s going to be like the pool stick fight in The Dark Knight.

Arsenal’s magic number is 23 points with nine matches remaining. (Arsenal points plus points MC drops.)

Fivethirtyeight has Arsenal with a 52% chance of winning the EPL. MC is at 48%. The final head to head meeting will be critical. I think Arsenal wins the league if they win or tie that game, and MC takes the league if they win that game.

Given that preseason just about everyone had MC winning the PL trophy, I guess that at the moment this is as good a position as it can get for Gooners Nation.

If you give MC the GD tiebreaker, MC’s magic number is 35. I’m wondering how Five Thirty Eight will react to reading this here.

Edit:
Arsenal magic number 23, nine fixtures remaining.
MC magic number 35, ten fixtures remaining.

I’ll keep a running tally.
