Both teams missed shots in the last 2 minutes. PSU trailing 61-60 had the ball. After a TO, they got Funk with a wide open 3. Alas, he missed it, and PSU committed a foul on the Wisky rebound. After 2 FTs by Wisky, it was 63-60, Wisky. PSU called TO with 4.7 sec left. And ...

Funk missed another 3 from some distance behind the 3-pt arc, Wisky got the rebound, and that was the game.

63-60, Wisky

PSU went scoreless the last 2:38 of the game.

Funk got hit on the elbow on that 2nd 3 pointer. Would've been interesting to see him at the line having to make all 3.

Just another typical game for PSU. Just about every opportunity they could ask for to walk out of Madison with a win and they can’t find a way to get it done. 24 pts in a half is simply not gonna get it done. Have to stop having these awful offensive stretches….2 points in the first 8 minutes of a half is horrendous.

the team has suffered through stretches of missing shots in some games this season. They don't have much of an inside presence, so they pretty much live and die by their 3-pt game. When the 3s are dropping (as they did in their most recent game against Indiana), then the team has success. When they aren't dropping, the team can struggle. Lundy being out for long stretches tonight due to foul troubles didn't help, as he's one of their best at hitting the 3 pointer, and also has the bulk to get off inside shots when the team is struggling

It doesn’t matter who PSU has as a coach. It’s always the same thing. No inside presence, live and die by the outside shot. They’ll never win consistently that way. Never.

The old definition of insanity applies to many of us Penn State BB followers. I learned a long, long time ago about this program, but somehow continue to hope. I'm not well.

They've had some players that had size, but didn't create much inside presence (Donovon Jack, Abdou Tsimbila, Jordan Dickerson, Alan Wisniewski, Sasa Borovnjak, Patrick Ackerman). But John Harrar and Mike Watkins would probably disagree with your statement. (And FWIW, I'm only looking at the past decade.)

Also, Corey Booth is part of the 2023 class, so he should be on the floor for PSU next season, and he's 6'10" and has some game.

Tonight was ... uh ... frustrating. They should have been up big in the 1st half, but they kept shooting themselves in the foot whenever they had big momentum-effecting opportunities. And Lundy just seemed to do everything wrong. He was just completely off in every aspect.

I'm not a blame the ref guy (and that intro means I'm going to blame the refs, of course), but that was a pretty poorly officiated game. PSU players were just getting molested all the time ... on and off the ball ... grabbed, hugged, kneed (especially in the 1st half) ... you name it ... and they hardly got any calls. And then you'd see the ticky tack open space foul called on PSU over and over again.

And Njie is just a mess. If you had told me that he was some fresh off the boat international project who had just started playing basketball, I'd completely believe you. But he was a top 100 recruit whose father played college basketball, and whose older brother currently plays at a D1 college. Crazy.

Let me make this easy for everyone. Penn State will make the NCAA Tournament and will advance to the Sweet 16 where they will lose in double overtime to Gonzaga. Trust me. I know stuff.:)

I can't understand why Schrews started Djie in the second half last night, anyone with any basketball IQ could clearly see Mahaffey was the best inside option both on defense and offense. Djie is a complete mess and has terrible hands and no offense, needs tons of work to be a productive player at this level. I love watching Mahaffey ball out, he is aggressive, plays tough defense even on bigger guys, can jump out of the gym, run the point on offense and just so active, needs more minutes and should be the starter at the 5. PSU is undersized anyway, so I don't see where Djie makes the squad any better in the starting lineup.

Mahaffey's time was limited because he had 4 fouls.

If course it's highly unlikely. If it was highly likely you wouldn't need Gambit the Guru to lay it out for you. Actually I really am going out on a limb with the Gonzaga matchup. Still, I remain confident.🤞

He's talking about Mahaffey playing earlier, and more often ... and not just in this game. In this game, Mahaffey didn't pick up his first foul until the final minute of the 1st half. He didn't pick up his 3rd until there was 9 minutes left in the game, so fouls weren't really a big limitation on his PT, regardless.

I don't agree with his point to have Mahaffey act as our big, but I do think he should see the floor more ... just creating havoc at his more natural position - the 3, and I think Njie needs to be firmly planted on the bench. The problem is, that just wears down everyone else trying to cover for the lack of a big, and we have no decent options inside.

If PSU had the 5 from Wisky, we are Sweet 16 good. Sad, we don’t have one big we can just throw the ball to on the block and force the other team to defend. And don’t get me started on our lousy post defense the other nite

I think Booth weighs 190. It's going to take time.

PSU jumped out to a 10-0 lead then Nebraska scored 8 unanswered. Funk with 7 points early.

Shooting really poorly, but fortunately so is Nebraska…13-10 with 10:59 left in the half.

If we can get hot in the second half, we could blow this one open, but shooting has been bad. 21-17 with 3:48 left.

29-23 PSU at the half. Funk with 16 points and Pickett with only 4…he needs to get going in the second half.
